All you have to do is place the cord in BEFORE sewing the flap down like when you staple. The cord can be inserted under the first stitch. That will be faster and easier.

I'm not sure what you mean... The only thing I didn't show was the catsuit but there are many patterns for those out there and people have different preferences when it comes to fit. This tutorial is primarily for the pieces that are added to the costume (holsters and armor) because that's what we couldn't find when we made the costume. My daughter actually used two different catsuit patterns because she liked the top from one and the bottom for another. Several people have made a Mord Sith costume from the video - is there something in particular you're looking for?

I'd have to charge quite a bit - at least $200 and that only gives me about 2-3 bucks per hour. Plus - you'd have to provide the jeans... The main reason I posted this tutorial was because I get a lot of requests to make them for people but they're very time consuming to create. I wanted to encourage others to make them for themselves because they're fun to do and they get a lot of comments.

Hello, I'm thinking about drawing on my 2 Jean Jackets! Do you think I need 12 Sharpies for each Jean Jacket?
@wikvideos5 жыл бұрын
I would suggest at least 8 per jacket as a guess but it depends on how dark you want the drawing to be and how big the jackets are - also how rough the fabric is. I tend to go over the design several times so it's as dark as possible. I also switched markers when the tip became worn down even though there was still some ink left. There are a lot of variables but I hope this info helps!

Thank you for sharing this fun technique, sooooo clever!! I purchased some canvas drop cloth at the hardware store to make plant covers and think your doodle art will be fun to try on the canvas. One of the comments below mentioned writing a poem on the fabric, so many fun possibilities. Great job, super fun to watch :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) I'm certainly not the first to draw or write on jeans, but I have a lot of fun making these so I thought this vid would show how easy it is to do something cool with some Sharpies and a pair of pants.

When I decided to start making these vids I considered the best way for people to see what I was doing - it just seemed odd to have myself facing the camera because you couldn't really see how I was holding things. I made a little rig to hold my phone to get the effect you mention. The idea was for viewers to easily envision their arms and hands in place of mine so as to make the process easier to understand and reproduce. Thanks for noticing - I'm glad it has the effect I was going for!

What kinda marker is that?? Fabric marker or normal? Name?
@wikvideos5 жыл бұрын
It's just a standard black Sharpie Permanent Marker - "Fine Point," not "Extra Fine Point" :)

@@wikvideos means we dont need fabric marker for this art?? I want to design my jeans for one day.
@wikvideos5 жыл бұрын
I used a fabric marker for the first pair I drew but the Sharpie ink fades much less so I prefer that brand of marker. Regardless of the marker you use, I'd recommend washing the jeans by hand a few times before washing them with other clothing to make sure the ink doesn't spread to anything. You might even set the ink a little more by drying the jeans inside out after you're done drawing. Good luck and have fun :)

Just a thought you might try leaving the cord long then tie it before you cut it.

Wait what about if u wash them will it come off??
@wikvideos6 жыл бұрын
Not if you use a sharpie - the jeans in the thumbnail photo had been washed many times. The ink does fade a little though. You'd also want to wash them by hand the first few times so as not to get any ink on other clothes. You can set the ink even better by turning them inside out and tossing them in the dryer before any washing. I've made several of these pairs of jeans and the design, while slightly faded, is still visible long after the jeans wear out.

Um.. can you upload a simple agiel diy
@wikvideos6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I tend to include all elements into one video rather than spread them all around so people don't have to hop to several videos - I realize this results in a particularly long video, but you can view the Agiel section at about 1 hour and 48 minutes (or just click the link within the description and the video should skip right to it.) If you want to make a simpler version than the one I made you could just not add the leather/vinyl/lacing over the painted dowel/ring - that was fairly easy, it didn't take very long, and they can be made with basic tools (saw, sandpaper, and glue gun).

Question...when using sharpies on your jeans..will heat ever affect it in any way, say like on a hot or humid day outside?
@wikvideos7 жыл бұрын
Heat will actually set the ink so it's more permanent. I wouldn't wear them on a humid day just after drawing on them, but they do dry pretty fast. I throw them in the dryer (turned inside out) for a little while when I'm done because they'll set quicker. The only thing I'd worry about is the first few washes - I do those by hand with cold water, then dry the jeans inside out by themselves. After that there doesn't seem to be any issues with wearing and washing other than gradual fading, but my daughter has worn out the jeans long before they've faded to a point where the design is gone. The dye markers don't last as long as Sharpies. Whenever I do these in the future I'll use Sharpies because the design lasts longer, there's less bleeding during washing, and the color is more crisp. I haven't tried colored sharpies yet though - maybe on the next pair...

I'm glad you're enjoying my video. As far as the length goes - I basically explore all the ideas I can come up with using certain components and include them in one video. I think of the videos more as courses based upon one idea which include many variations. In order to keep everything in one location I place all variations in one vid rather than break them up - the idea is that if you have a bunch of components (like belt loops) in front of you, you can use the one vid to choose what you'd like to make rather than jump around from vid to vid. If you like, you can jump to each technique by clicking the links in the info area and you won't have to watch the whole thing. * Have fun making stuff!

I'm happy to provide a tutorial! :) We had trouble finding one ourselves but I know there's interest in the costume. I figured that, since we'd be making the costume anyway, I might as well make a tutorial for others who want to make one for themselves. It's one of the coolest costumes I've ever seen and it would be great to see more of them out there. My only regret is that we couldn't find a matching color of vinyl, but the black looks great and Lydia loves wearing it. She was very involved in the planning of the costume so she certainly gets some credit! She's getting pretty good at sewing - much better than me. She just made a dress to represent New Zealand for a school project too (no tutorial for that, but it's a wonderful dress!)

I don't know what else to suggest Yvonne - it works fine for me. The only issue I've had is there may be a thread or two still connecting the denim - if that occurs I just rotate the punch and press it again. Have you tried it with other types of denim? I've punched all types, but maybe the kind you're using is especially tough or has an unusual thread type like polyester or nylon. I'm sorry you're having issues and I'd love to help, but as I haven't experienced what you're experiencing I'm not sure what advice I can offer. You might also try holding the handles of the punch closer to their ends to get more leverage.
