You know, that was so innocent, from the heart and sexy on both Johnny and Dolly's part - I think that's why we all loved them both so much.

Dolly Parton must've been highly flattered when Johnny Carson was willing to give up a year's pay to have a peek at her upper private possessions

I have this on Carson's Comedy Classics that a collector put together for me, but it's a bit longer. At one point, Johnny stops rubbing her belly, and she squeaks as if to say, "Did I say you could stop?" So funny and cute! When I saw that, I thought, "I want one!", like probably a few other people. Sometimes when the animal experts go on the show, they warn people that they are still wild animals, no matter how cute they are. They even warn people about having pet skunks! Some people have pet hyenas.

I was almost 15 years old when this episode aired. I was in Orlando with my parents and we were going to Disneyworld the next day. I was in the same hotel room with my parents, who were trying to sleep. I laughed outloud so hard my father told me to be quiet or turn it off.

Johnny Carson was about getting people to laugh. Today's late night hosts are just trying to get applause. It's not about humor anymore.

Carson’s Tonight Show was Variety, which by 11:30 weekdays most people needed some of. His topics and format entertained. It didn’t make your hair hurt watching and it wasn’t the same night after night after night. Nobody was selling you ideology. Toothpaste and cars maybe. But TV will never pull 4-6 million nightly with what is presently offered.

Johnny Carson actually hated these bits with the animals; one time they had some kind of cub feline on that pooped on him and he got sick for a few days.
