Oh, brings back memories. Knew a lot of these guys. Nothing was better than skipping lunch to head down to 2B5 for FLB rehearsal. Most of those guys were absolute monsters. Omdahl, Dedominick, Philbrick, absolute beasts. Nesbitt was insufferable, but that guy was the consummate woodwind player. A real pro.

@@youthjazz I didn't know or ever hear Burnett or Hill. Knew Ray Evans a little, being a fellow Marine, but never heard him or played with him. Was instructed by Nesbitt as a basic student and Philbrick as an intermediate student. Philbrick was just one of those guys who played impeccably in every aspect. I wish I could have spent more time with him.

@@robertreid2931 Yes, I know the history: Christopher Burnett came on staff from the NATO band and was the Army First Sergeant for the Student Company. He continued as a professional musician after the military. Google him. Aaron Hill was also a former Army Warrant Officer and a brilliant musician. He remained in music after retirement from the military as well. As stated earlier, all of those players were "beasts" as you say.

@@youthjazz Thanks for the background on those guys. As I sit here remembering, the name Aaron Hill does ring a bell, but that's about the extent of my memory of him. I retired in '08. Mitch Martin was about the only one in this group I kept in touch with, but have since lost contact since I left Facebook.
