My wife goes to all the practices because as a child, her parents never showed up or interest in any of her sports activities. She remembers parents after practices and games being there for their kid and how alone she felt during those times. So, she wants to be at everything to show them support and love it. But, totally get the flip side and see the parents at practices being a sideline coach. It’s one reason I no longer attend, very sad to see.

@@jonathansun81 Yes, different for each family. Attending practice, especially at early ages, can be enjoyable for parents and kids and we would never intend to discourage that. As kids get older, particularly in high school practices, some parents hover (all the time), out of a need to ensure that everything is going right for their kids. In the context of trying not to raise "soft kids," we encourage parents to allow their kids some space to be independent. Parents have to decide for themselves what that looks like.

Herm the most corrupt despicable coach to ever grace the sidelines of Sun Devil Stadium. You didn't leave Herm. You were forced out because you broke the rules and then you got your buddy to give you a payout when you should have be fired for cause. So glad the Herm years are behind us. I wish they'd sue him to recoup his payout.

I'm 5'8 (1.75m) and Messi is somewhere near 5'6. My dad bought a VIP, Inter Miami ticket, for my birthday and I saw him walk past me and all the other kids in the tunnel.

Smoltzie one greatest all time. Never forget myself my brother saw him pitch in 1990 . Had seats at corner of Giants dugout very cheap those days the attendence was like 6500 . Awesome watching him warm up he could throw a baseball. Saw him when he was a relief pitcher at Turner field. He saved game against the Tigers. What great time we had thru 90' watch Braves play we knew with pitching staff we had got chance win ever night. Smoltz big part of that. Met him one time he was incredible signed a baseball for my son. He treasure that still. He still looks great glad he is doing well. Listen to him he tell u what not to do about young kids playing baseball

And then they wonder why their kids get into bad relationships, drugs and alcohol. Support your kids, don't just pressure them.

Man I wish NCAA had D2 for hockey. I know there is the NE10 but they play D3 and there are only a few of them. D3 schools are so expensive to attend since most are private. unless you can get solid academically

As for the outside or extra development practice time, really depends on the child as much as it does the parents knowledge. I know hockey, I've played 34 years and I've coached for numerous years. I can play with my son and I can work with him but I can't work with him the same way I would someone that is not my son because he doesn't listen to me the same way he listens to an outside coach or an older player. What I've learned is that I can show him something and he will do it or try to do it but he does not like to be corrected by me. He does not do well with the hands on constructive criticism of what he is working on and will shut down. He wants to do it himself or he knows how to do it already. This has forced me to get creative, almost trick him into doing what I'm trying to teach him or I have to play a game with or against him. It is unfortunate because I could save a lot of money if he would work directly with me like other players or even his friends do.

It definitely a family choice but hockey is played every Sunday, especially at the younger ages. It might not always be a conflict with the time but high probability. That said it really comes down to your family priorities. We don't really do Church but we have family dinner as often as possible and try to do extended family dinner on Sunday nights at the in-laws house.

I'll say this ive hit a right handed my entire life and my senior year of high school my coaches saw me messing around with the guys and we were hitting left handed. For whatever reason i was hitting ropes back up the middle of the cage and my coach literally told e if were were out of a game he wanted my to try going up lefty. i did and i grounded out but some how that ade something click in me and I got supper hot the rest of the season so id have to agree with chipper.

College football has been ruined with money, big programs and alike should house and feed student athletes and money is what separated the kids from the pros. I’m not against players getting paid from outside things like if they do a commercial or advertisement but i don’t agree with a school having to pay a player like he is a professional athlete because then when they don’t play at a professional standard like herm just said a checkbook now changes everything and can cause more bad than good. It’s still college after all you go to school for an education because most of any team isn’t going pro

Guys like Herm Edwards and Deion Sanders are perfect for the NIL area of college football. They know the transfer portal and now players using the red shirt as a means to hold out or quit on their team so they can retain their eligibility and transfer elsewhere is the equivalent of free agency and hold outs. Some what some how the programs, boosters, and the NCdoubleAholes will find a way to reign this in and get the power they lost back. How that will happen is anyone’s guess…

I would talk to a coach and say why why pick a career that risks the lives of children that you're gonna have under your leadership why cause it is risking their lives with head injuries when it comes to football soccer wrestling any contact sport that can cause injuries it's not worth it

Poor Jackson he’s just not getting the game. We keep hanging on to the fact he has potential but I don’t think he will reach it. 16 years from now we will still be hanging on to hope. He’s just not focused enough to be great it’s that simple.
