This rendition should be Top 10. It was exactly ten years after the Gulf War and Whitney Houston's performance in Super Bowl XXV. You can tell BSB was honored to perform at the Super Bowl and in front of Gen Norman Schwarzkopf.

Only reason he sounded like that was the work of drug and alcohol abuse

I remember watching this the first time thinking there's a few pitch problems here and there but then I saw Justin Timberlake's version and... man, kudos to Nick for actually knowing how to belt! sheesh JT can only do so many riffs and runs, falsettos to save his life! He can barely hit those high notes! Nick's got that raspiness in his voice which is nice though. Has a Bryan Adams feel hehe

Good to me, not just because I'm a fan. I explain: he has a good voice (excellent vibrato), but here he seems to screeching at times due to the torn style he wanted to "print" on his performance (typical of the rock genre, in which he was moving at that time). And because of that, he had to force his voice. He lacked tuning in that moment, but his version seemed a thousand times better than others that exaggerate the falsettos and completely change the base rhythm of the melody.

Fuck Brian Littrell. Nick Carter sang The National Anthem a lot louder, rapier and more powerfully than Brian Littrell and Mariah Carey combined.

@CaapriceTube19 жыл бұрын
Can always tell what year it is by their hairstyles and clothes, saw Howie's long hair and knew it was 2001and AJ all thugged out during his Imma rockstar do cocaine era....but soooooo happy he's clean now!! That Black & Blue era was hard for them could see they were all burnt out and tired of each other sorta.
@EATeezey8 жыл бұрын
I look back at the videos during the B&B era and now I see just how drained and jaded they all looked. At the time I couldn't tell but looking back it's so obvious that they were exhausted. I feel like if they'd taken a break after Millennium then stuff like AJ's addiction wouldn't have happened. That and they could've made a better album than B&B (imo it's their weakest album; not bad just not as strong as others).
@CaapriceTube18 жыл бұрын
EATeezey I hear ya, but most of AJ's substance abuse came from obviously him just living up to the "bad boy" label people gave him and the roles they all had in the group. But mostly b/c his grandma died that year in April, she was like the father he didnt have around during his childhood, so when she died it was a major blow to him. And black & blue was kind of their transition album that's why it wasnt as successful as the previous 3, it came out in Nov.2000, by then the whole real sugary pop-boyband sounds were kinda dying out, they were getting more into adult contemporary stuff, it was a growth record, they still had the uptempos but tht album had more ballads. Also like Never gone after their 3-year hiatus they completely stopped dancing with that album cus of the times too, 2005 it was all about emo rock and folky kinda music, so they had to go with the times.
@EATeezey8 жыл бұрын
+CaapriceTube true. I liked the change of sound Never Gone had. Vocally, everyone was in top form, especially AJ. I went to both the pre-tour and tour shows and it was amazing. The approach was more intimate since they weren't surrounded by dancers.
