Sucks that these cars have throw away parts now. You pretty much gotta buy more pads often or buy rotors and pads. Great video man. Keep up the great work.

Do you not use that lube on the brake pad ear where it fits into the bracket?

when you say you're going to pop the brake fluid reservoir, are you just opening the top to relieve pressure...?

😊Great explanation, very clear. I will try again. Never did an electric ebrake before.I was concerned to damage the electronics by screwing in the gear. Again thanks for the demo 23:44 23:44

If I had my parking brake on by accident and the caliper piston did go all the way out is there any small chance on fixing it?, I did get the piston to go back in a little but I can’t manually do it all day like that
@danthebrakeman14 күн бұрын
You maybe able to get the piston back in just be sure to lubricate the seal inside of the caliper and work the piston back in.

Hi Dan I just looked at you video on replacing electronic parking brakes, it was pretty interesting however, I notice that you did torque bolts to specifications and if someone over tighten it can cause problem as well as under tightening. Also , do you have a video on doing same procedure with the use of a scan tool, thank you.

Appreciate the video but I really think you should put a note on the plug disconnect that the correct way to lift the tab is to push up inside the top hole. I managed to break the tab lock following your method. 2:26 The tips for the parking brake worked perfectly.

thanks. just want I needed for my 2014 STX 2.0T that I replaced the front calipers on a min ago. Did not do this on the first side and it was instant "Mush" pedal. ALWAYS top off the reservoir before bleeding. I top mine up & will bleed it down to the Max line. GG

Life saver, getting to it this week, is the Fronts the same process or anything more tricker than the rears?.. Doing all 4's Pads and Rotors
@flrpower562825 күн бұрын
No need to remove the motor, just turn the piston clockwise until it stop turning (don't force it) and then push back on the piston to finish it.

@@sadrockst4r444 not really - maybe provide more description - This video was helpful as many are disassembling the rear electric parking brake, or having to put the car into service mode. This video was helpful, as it shows you don't need to enable the parking brake, and you can simply perform the brake job. Which part of the video did you not understand Jack?

Great video!!!! One question, when you place the motor back on the caliper, do you have to rotate the 5mm bolt/pin to get the motor to align correctly when you reassemble?

I have replaced both actuators and just had this towed as it got stuck in the on position after replacing the brakes and both actuators as it got stuck previously too. I now have the the wires disconnected, but anyone have info into what happened during the brake change months ago? And what I should replace?
@danthebrakemanАй бұрын
Is it the parking brake stuck or the calipers?
@jayhamilton-x4yАй бұрын
@@danthebrakeman no it's the parking brake. I have wound them back and disconnected the wiring for the ebrake. My thought is that I need a stronger scan tool than my $140 one to reset it?

Once i put new pads and rotors on? Do i have to turn the spline to apply pressure before mounting the motor back on? Thanks

No you'll leave in the fully retracted position until everything is assembled and complete before test drive apply parking brake from inside the vehicle and it will reset it self

Don't you also need to remove brake fluid fill cap when applying pressure to caliper piston so it does not build pressure up

Use a Phillips 3/8" socket to either move the Philips rotor screw or shear it. Forget the drill
