I purchased a dust collection port for my dewalt miter. It worked great. Sucked everything up. I downgraded to a festool miter saw and the dust collection is horrendous.

@@CustomWoodWorkDecor I had an aftermarket attachment from ShopNation that collected pretty well, but that broke. These dang miter saws are always such huge mess makers in the shop! That’s too bad about the Festool, I didn’t know they were bad as well for DC.

@@HescottDesignCo That dust port attachment I purchased was also from Shopnation. It worked great. And yes, the Festool miter is super overrated. I like the extension stand. It’s accurate as long as your add 1/8” to any measurement.

I’m guessing this is well north of $600-700. But if it’s even way more than that, like above $2k-2.5k, I’d get a decent desktop CNC instead. It is nice and all, no argument there. But if it’s either/or, I’d choose the CNC because it wouldn’t need to be guided by hand. Edit: wow, just checked their website. It’s like $3k. So I’d definitely go with a desktop CNC instead. Unless money is no issue and just have both 😁 The shaper to be like a mini/portable CNC

I own the Harvey Alpha 15" bandsaw, 4HP Alpha Table saw with the integrated Harvey Router table/fence, the G700 Dust processor, and have been very happy with how all those tools have performed and held up to everything I've put them through and I've put them through perhaps more than they are designed to handle, but they are built durably and have not failed or bogged down in anyway. To see they continued to innovate, are listening to user feedback and as a result, engineering these clever solutions, I find impressive. The digital additions, upgraded features and improved ergonomics are great, but what I find clever is applying the rust resistant nickel plating, not just to the work surfaces, but also to internal components...so smart. No something I would have thought a tool manufacturer would put in the effort to do. The changes to the bandsaw are substantial. Now, I don't 'need' to upgrade any of my Harvey tools whatsoever, but some of these new features are compelling.

First thing you should do is attach two 90 degree elbows on the cleanout ports into a WYE fitting and cap that with a rubber cap. Then cleaning is much easier than crawling around on the floor for each port clean. Support the WYE with a 4" clip clamp by attaching to the perforated sheet metal on the G-700. Use a wood block behind the 4" clip clamp to keep the WYE vertical. If not using a fair length of DC hard piping and attaching a 4" hose directly to a planer, turn the speed to under 60 or a short flex hose will have too much air velocity and bypass the bins with chips going directly into the filters. Taking the filters out of the G-700 is a pain and about an hour of work if you know what you're doing.

What small things like the Festool sander, router, drill press, 12" sanders etc. (Small things) can be used with it. 1 1/2" inlet items. There seems to be a question about air flow. @@andrewpinson1268 Hey! Fellow Celtics fan! I started watching around 1982 and was spoiled watching Bird, McHale and Parrish! Great years for sure and I have a huge appreciation for those older teams as well! To answer the dust collection question in regard to smaller inlet tools. I’ve found that using just a good shop vac works better for those actually. The action of decreasing the hose diameter from the 6” Mini Gorilla will hamper the CFM and prevent good flow/suction. I’m not sure on the science of it all, but the shop vacs are better suited to pull vacuum on those smaller style tools. Festool, Fein, SurPrep and Mirka make very nice versions…but they can be pricey. I got by using a Rigid teamed up with a Dust Deputy for many years! Worked very well! Gosh, this is such a kind comment! I really appreciate that very much! I certainly am trying my best to create relatable build content or at least show enough that might help someone out of a pickle! I’m a furniture maker by trade and have just opened my first storefront/showroom. So making videos isn’t exactly my strong suit yet! I’m trying though to get better and hope to have more KZbin videos coming soon! The creators such as Eric and others in that large group are much better at making these videos. That is their product and the builds are secondary. My product is actually the furniture and the videos are secondary…so I’m in a bit of a learning curve! I appreciate your message!
