If you does the micrometer adjustment just limit travel? Eg if you were to screw it all the way down would the regular version allow you to seat by feel like the lite version?

Yes, I'm using it on my SAC. All I did was cut a primer tube in half so it cleared the handle, and make a rectangle aluminum plate that I simply place over the SAC shell holder and spare cam discs. If you are a memeber of Sniper's Hide forum, I posted pics there, and also on a couple fb reloading groups. BTW, SAC said it wouldn't work but it works great. If you give me your email address, I'll send you some pics of how I have it oriented.

Love my Ugly Annealer! I compared a half-dozen different flame annealers, and the Ugly had the best combination of capacity, rotation speed, quality components, available support from Carl, and a fair price. I don’t think I’d turn down an AMP annealer with all the accessories that costs 6x as much when all is said and done, but for what you get for the price and the job it does I don’t think you can do better than this.

Looks good on the surface! But this works just like the $600 one from Primal Rights and it uses the Rim. Test show that this is the most inaccurate method. It introduces as much as .60 thousands error in primer seating depth. Take a look at the Lee primer APP system. It has the lowest error of around .06 because it take the rim thickness out of the measurement. That's quite a difference in error and it's been known for 2 years. Why would you bring to market another tool with that big of error in seating depth? Take a look at F-Class Johns work on finding out this information.
@atlbike8 ай бұрын
I like my Lee APP, but I couldn't get the priming to work consistently with the springs & flimsy plastic components. Found myself thinking that I wish the APP had a primer feed like this unit. Switching between sml & lrg, the little plastic tab on the APP wouldn't stay in-place. Also the Lee feed trays jam & need to be tapped to keep the primers feeding on the APP & the Lee bench mount unit. As I now have four Lee primer trays & attempted to keep two Lee units working reliably, I'm back using my RCBS bench mount. Thinking my set of Lee primer case holders would work with this unit.

This is really beautiful work! I’m not an engineer, but the only _possible_ weakness I can guess might be here is that pushing that slide in a hundred times or so might start to wear on your thumb? In that case maybe make the end facing you a bit longer, and put a larger plastic push piece there? Or not if in practice you think it’s fine. I think your seating depth adjustment is the most variable there is available for any primer seating tool. I’d be interested in this as a competitor to the bench mounted CPS. On the comparator set, it has both case and bullet comparators to fit the insert? I have the cheaper Hornady inserts for cases, and a couple of other brand bullet inserts I use with their body, but having a complete set would be great. I was looking at the SAC set, but it’s not nearly as complete as this one. I’ve also never seen screw-in inserts I don’t think, by any manufacturer. I hope you start to get some traction with your products, you deserve it!

I like this ram priming die, but I would simply set the tool to seat at full depth, and learn to feel the bottoming out of the primer in the primer pocket. That way I'd know all primers are 100% seated correctly to the bottom of the primer pocket. Trying to seat them to a certain depth, without knowing that they are bottomed out or not can cause light strikes on the ones not bottomed out in the pocket, leading to either hang fires or miss fires.

I'd recommend looking to adding a twist lock (similar to Sinclair tool) that locks the case down to the bottom. This would negate rim thickness variance and up the precision exponentially.

@@thetexasrat no one said anything about not bottoming them out. There's plenty of data correlating crush (past bottom) and precision. If seating to the bottom works out for you, that's great. Those that want to take things further will need something more. This is why things like the F Class Products add on plate to the Primal Rights Priming tool exists.

@@Solving_Live_Poker Maj. George C. Nonte Jr, in his Modern Handloading manual [page 134], explains how seating the primer past flush to the bottom of the pocket runs the risk of fracturing and cracking the primer cake. And how if this happens the ignition will be erratic at best and at worst hang fires and or complete misfires may result. Also, according to the following, best results are at flush to .001" crush, and any crushing past .001 is not good: kzbin.info/www/bejne/joazoWBvhN-Jaas kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6GXfIKeeLymjJI

@@thetexasrat The same person you linked has also shown videos where priming tools that index not off the rim are better as well. You can't just link one video you like and ignore the others.
@thetexasrat10 ай бұрын
@@Solving_Live_Poker I showed two videos and a book reference. And yes better is better but best is best. Why would I share a link to something that is imperfect when we are striving for perfect? The priming tools that hold the case securely so that the rim variations make no difference still have a + or - of .001" for a .002" variance in seating depth. The one's that space off the top of the case rims vary + or - .002" for a .004" variance. Seating by feel to the bottom of the pocket is easy and just as - if not more accurate that the ones that seat off the bottom of the cases. For one to chase their own tail is madness, yet once they actually catch it they tend to over come such an urge. It is simple, crushing the primers past bottomed-out fractures/cracks the brittle priming cake compound of which leads to erratic ignition, hang fires, and /or complete misfires may result.
