I would suggest that some good mechanical preparation before applying any primer system. It cleans the surface, removes lump & bumps along with making sure you have texture & porosity. I’d never apply any epoxy without chasing a CSP2 level prep. Screeds me that people prime over dirty unprepared surfaces all the time. Not sure how you can call yourself professional when you don’t prep properly

How would you go about dincel or similar pvc retaining walls
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd2 ай бұрын
Hi Ben, thanks for watching and reaching out! There's 2 options! Option 1 is a liquid system, you can use liquid membranes where the crucial step is the primer, we recommend using: Gripset OP Primer: gripset.com//products/gripset-op/ Option 2 is to use the sheet membrane, we recommend the BRW HD system that will adhere directly to the PVC without any primer: BRW-HD: gripset.com//products/gripset-brw-hd/ Hope this helps and happy waterproofing! :)

looking at the finished application in the final seconds of the video, was the surface prepared adequately for the membrane? I see lumps and protrusions in the finished application as well as the mortar lines. how flat and smooth is the preparation to be? Thanks
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd2 ай бұрын
Hi Charles, before commencing the application, the important step is surface preparation, you need to fill any holes and voids before applying the membrane over, they should be flush and level with the wall, refer to the opening scenes where the joints were filled and scrapped for a flat even surface. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! :)

Question: My contractor put a vapor open membrane on the outer wall on a bathroom we are renovating. I found out about this when checking up on his work. Is it possible to put a new membrane layer on top of the old one but only one that does not let through vapor ? We know the brand and that it is water proof but not vapor proof and in this climate the membrane towards the outside and cold rooms should be vapor proof as well as water proof. This is a recent thing. The membrane is not a sheet but the stuff you put on with a pencil.

Thank you Gripset for the very informative video. I have been renovating bathrooms in the last 25 years, some bathroom (built in 1990s) we removed have yellow tongue but it is in good condition if the yellow tongue and waterproofing was installed correctly. I always debate whether to leave the yellow tongue or advise the owner to replace it with scyon (with additional cost). I have been googling to find a suitable answer to advise my customers about yellow tongue but haven't been able to find the right answer as some site says it is illegal and some site says it is ok to use but not recommended. Thanks to your video and your answered comment (from other video) I have found the right advice to give to my customers.

Great video. Short and informative. I’m trying to get a clear answer on this as some websites mentioned it is illegal to use yellow tongue in bathroom while other saying that it is not recommended but still meet the building code as long as waterproofing is done correctly. Could you able to give me the answer for this in 2024? Is yellow tongue compliant for bathroom flooring in 2024. Really appreciated.

I'm trying to get a right answer for this so I can advise my customers. Some website saying it is illegal to use yellow tongue, some website saying it is compliant. I thought red tongue is for bathroom, you thought it is green tongue. 😂 so what is the correct answer?
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd6 ай бұрын
@@marktran5076 @user-mp4eg1mb9i Hi guys, the correct answer is water-resistant particle board talk to the manufacturers of those products to ensure you are making the correct selection. As for the general use, check specification 26 in NCC 2022 VOL 1 and Housing Provision section 10.2 for NCC 2022 VOL 2. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)
@Will-nb8qk6 ай бұрын
Actually on second thoughts it all seems like overkill. If waterproofing was done on surface and on inside of pipe, it is probably just as safe as using a flange but without all the rigmarole.
@Will-nb8qk6 ай бұрын
Recessing those flanges in concrete or cement sheeting would a nightmare. The other query related to this is the floor may be flat or water does not actually fall towards drain especially on a wooden floor. In my mind the flange just needs to be placed on top of the screed and obviously recessed in. Bathroom failures in the past were mainly as a consequence of floor tiles being butted up against wall tiles.
