This is just what I’m looking for! I’m new to FMOD and want to know how you handled the sequence programming. Is that done more on the FMOD side or within unity?

hey this is a really cool idea! the logic in fmod is just a bit too restrictive to make this a fun challenge haha I think the best areas to look into would be swapping from global to local parameters or investigating instance culling. I think you'd have to ask a programmer on the FMOD team but I suspect the engine is doing some sort of optimisation on the instanced events. It could be trying to share resources for the events and stopping/culling instances that you want to be playing, so perhaps the persistence/stealing/priority settings might be a good place to check as well. I also looked on the FMOD forums but couldn't find the post, I looked into a similar bug with instanced events and loops where they just wouldn't play. There is just something a bit strange about how it triggers instanced events inside a loop. I tried to recreate your project but got frustrated with all of the command instruments haha so I ended up making my own version using 16 loop regions that I think works really well. I can make a video on it if you're curious!

I coded along with this video. It is still valid for Live 12 and MAX 8. A note aside. In the help file of the adsr~ there is an example with a sah~ object, that connects to the second outlet of the ADSR. This didn't work for me in the context of Live. It also showed a different behaviour if the MAX editor was open or closed. Very strange. This YT tutorial works. It doesn't make use of the buggy feature.

Notice how the modulation is added to the frequency! Addition is a linear operation. To be perceived as linear the frequency has to grow exponentially. Hence, I expect to perceive more dynamic while the oscillator of the modulator is below zero and less dynamic while it is above. I can't estimate the impact. For example this change in perceived dynamic is dynamic in itself again. I can't tell if it should be improved and how to do it. However, this is something to think about. We are just at the surface of FM.

If my observation is right, the time of the decay is not in addition to the release. A short release can cut off a long decay. This is somewhat counter intuitive. I notice this for the first time. I the ADSR of Max different to the usual practice?

Ok so what about ambisonic audio files (4 tracks recoded by an ambisonic mic) ? There is not a way to play a file like that in abelton only mono or stereo tracks being fed into an ambo plug

thx for the Vid Daniel, i'm trying everything to get the two programs to work together, ever since rewire left it's been tough! Let me tell you what i'm trying to achieve, and maybe you can tell me if this method here will work for me. I"m a drummer, have tons of self made drum racks in ableton live, which i also use a lot of ableton effects for, i want to be able to record all of that and sync it with pro tools. I've tried IAC bus with MTC but it drifts after about 40 bars and continues to get worse as it goes. It doesn't need to be perfect, but i need to be ablet to record all my performance and effects movements in ableton and also be recording in pro tools, then be able to edit. Link stays lined up pretty well, but if i want to start/stop the play head in pro tools, aleton always goes back to the start and doens't follow where i put the cursor in pro tools, ugh, pain in the arse! thx for any advice, i'm going watch this video again and see what i can come up with, i'm not. dealing with video at all btw

Is Max For Live the same as Max from Cycling 74?
@elmarhinz3076
@elmarhinz3076 Ай бұрын
It's Max from Cycling 74 as an extension for Live. With version 9 Max will be able to control many or all functions of Live. Cycling 74 as a company is meanwhile a part of Ableton.

I was able to follow along with everything except was not able to get polyphony working. I also added some things like a waveform selector and low pass filter which worked before for me but maybe I integrated incorrectly, I think I'm going to try and follow along exactly, see if that works, then try and add more features

Ahhhh found my mistake, after following along I then went back and added a square, saw, and triangle waveforms then routed that into a selector~ 4 with some radio buttons to pick the waveform of the carrier and modulator then added a LPF using lores~ at the end. Great video I watched it like 3 times and learned a ton!

Is it possible to create a template to sound similar to a moog synth
@elmarhinz3076
@elmarhinz3076 Ай бұрын
Basically yes. Two keys: 1. Find a ladder filter similar to Moog's. 2. Build a some variability into different parts of the template to mimic the instability of analog hardware. AI will assist with further instructions.

Hi Daniel, I've just found this video and see it's 6 years old. This routing matrix looks a lot like Reaper's matrix, but now in Live 11 I don't see this being implemented. Is this type of routing available in Live or M4L now? Thanks!

Lovely! I just watched a couple KZbin videos on this music, and did a patch today that is similar to yours. Nicely done! I am using Rubicon for the VCO, with a double saw wave on one track (with LFO to cutoff frequency on BP filter) and pulse wave on the second track (with LFO on PWM). Thank you for this patch! Then I will try a simplified version of In C. I will have to figure out the sequencing.

This is really good, am thinking it is just what I need to get me very well into this project I have in mind. I have an old launchpad mini, think it is the first mini just called launchpad mini. I want to exploit it and utilize it as a midi controller but more about a variety of setups for song writing and music projects than actually playing something with it. If it can be used as an on the spot patchbay and such like. After seeing what you are doing this seems very simple even without that script you have been using. Thank you for this really appreciate it and how you showed how simple it actually is bravo well done.

Controlling an entire 16 steps with one single slider feels so weird and clunky. Like i can sequence melody way more intuitively on a varigate and thats basically a trigger sequencer. It gives 16 faders for 16 steps rather than 1. Am i missing smth?
