Yes, the pungent smell goes away after fermentation. Fermented juice tastes just ok. Not sweet not bitter. It reminds me of apple cider vinegar 😄

There were two methods that I used. For the prekese tea I used hot water and it is ready in a few minutes. The second one is what I call prekese water. With prekese water with that I used room temperature water. it will stay for several hours before it is ready for drinking because room temperature water will take longer to extract the nutrients.
