If you killed a man with a gun and he had a his fist, did you win a fight or cheat a fight? You don't win by cheating. This story is so misinterpreted for good when it is not. Yes David when a was "brave" to face Goliath, but not by combat. He stood far away and wiped a rock at him. Anyone else could of done that with practice and aim. What those men were afraid of was dying by hand to hand combat from a man that stood much taller than 2 of their men together.
