@Kurocents10 ай бұрын
For me the new movement was detrimental to my playstyle because of how I would utilize the old movement on controller in tandem with building, editing and aiming. For exploring the map, it's okay I guess but in my opinion feels really odd and even less realistic than the movement we had before as it doesn't compliment the environment and sprinting is really the only cool thing about it. I'm fine with the infinite mantle too. Now for building, you can't move properly or perform the same techniques without getting in some odd position or just messing up entirely. And you can't even build at the normal speed and have to constantly sprint just ro do retakes or get close to your opponent. For editing it messes with your crosshair placement and the slower pace can make it easier for those who aren't good at it but way harder in scenarios in which you are trying to do them quickly.

The movement still doesn't compliment the fundamental mechanic which is building. You can't fight normally like that at all. Outside of combat it is fun but even the straight running is extremely odd with how goes with the weapons and all so that could at least go back to normal. The new movement doesn't have to go but be adjusted for all purposes.

Unfortunately, Pokemon games can and always will be such a hot commodity that other sellers/businesses will buy them the moment they dip below their price charting price. My local game store even gives trade in values pretty close to price charting because they end up selling them for a good bit over locally. They never sit on the shelf for more than a day, and they are like crazy high-priced.
@SanchezDidit11 ай бұрын
The reason they sell for a crazy high price is BECAUSE They don’t sit on the shelf for more than a day. If everyone went in there asking for it for $50-$60 and walked out if they said no, and sat on the shelf for a couple months with that high price tag, that local store would surely lower the price. The issue is that buyers don’t realize the power they actually have. Without buyers, would there even be sellers?

If a game cannot be bought first hand from the company directly, then emulating is fair game in my head. Just dont turn around and sell emulated stuff. If my money isnt going directly to the company that made the game, then its not going to make a difference to their bottomline if i buy it secondhand or if i emulate it.

The mentality of I'll get it when prices go down only works when the game is still being manufactured, after that you cant expect the prices to go down. I remember wanting a N64 game called Conker's Bad Fur Day. It was always 50+ bucks at the time. I waited, then it went to 75, I waited then it went to 90, I bought it. At some point it got to 140 but now it went down at the moment for 107. I am not advocating for scalping but the only people selling pokemon games are scalpers because fans wont sell their copies. I got 2 soul silver copies, 1 for storing pokemon i like and another one to erase and replay. No way I am selling either.
@cosmicsvids11 ай бұрын
Yeah but it blows my mind that one of the best selling franchises ever has its games priced as if they are rare when that's not the case its simply the case of all the sellers overpricing it so your have no other option if you want a physicals cart.

the only people who care to stop the enabling are people who want original copy's, who also have to learn that it's better just to get replicas at this point or just save roms
@SanchezDidit11 ай бұрын
The first statement is correct, people who want the original games don’t want to pay bloated prices to scalpers. As for the part about getting repros and roms.. while repros are cheap and roms are free, they don’t allow you 100% functionally of the originals. You can’t transfer Pokémon from the GBA repros to the DS games. And DS repros won’t connect to Pokemon Bank or Poketransporter. This is why we need the original games. I don’t believe COLLECTORS want these games, as they are still heavily in circulation. It’s the people who actually want to play the game and get the full functionality that want them

prices overseas are even worse due to ''lower sales'', despite the fact these games sold millions of copies worldwide. @guts211211 ай бұрын
Hi done, I’m dad
@Yous014711 ай бұрын
You're very right. To be honest, a big reason why this is the case is because people who deal in these games enjoy that they have the (inflated) value that they do. You see this exact same problem in trading card games, where the practice originated from in terms of games, where the natural progression is that players go into a collective mind hype over a card, it becomes majorly expensive because of scalpers and people naturally becoming concervative with their trades and card sales as not to go "negative" while the card value inflates, so they're incenteviced to hold for longer, making those cards inaccessible to most reasonable players. But what keeps that market in lock is that speculators (especially people who have ludomanic tendencies, which can include all of us), end up enjoying that market, the inflated value, it gives their hobby and their sales a justification, a purpose, which in turn justifies their engagement with that hobby in a way that can be hard to do on a casual level (even if it shouldn't be hard, the reality is that it very much can be). Subbed btw, nice discussion.
@SanchezDidit11 ай бұрын
these are great points.. There are definitely collectors (in every community) out there who enjoy the fact that they're searching a "grail" and the fact that they obtained something "worth" a large amount gives them a beefy serotonin boost. Hell, even I get that when I score something I've been searching for, However for me that boost only potent when I know I didnt have to spend a quarter of my rent to obain it lol.
