I was in this orchestra in its very first years. from 1984-87. Great memories. Shame youtube wasn't around to see the orchestra at that time! Would love to have seen film of all of us back then.

Hello, I was wondering if you possibly still had a copy of this recording so that maybe I could have it please? I just re-listened to this and I think it maybe one of the best times I performed it (not to mention beautiful acoustics) Was just wondering! Thanks x

thanks for watching everyone! What makes this "special" for everyone involved is that we had one rehearsal with as many people could make it from all the different groups about 2 months before the concert and then all the individual band directors rehearsed it with their own groups to put together on the night. It was a bit of a scary experience but such a buzz to have pulled it off! Thanks to all the band directors who worked on the piece with their bands and to all the musicians!

@euphoniumtillidie the band is mostly aged 10 - 14 but there are quite a few players who stay in until they are 16 or older as mentors often in the principal seats

@Narutofreak757 Thank you for your comment! Just uploaded quite an old recording (Jan 2010) of Rhiannon playing a cute piece by Jim Parker called Dances with Bears. Rhiannon wasn't very old when this was recorded and it was a favourite piece for her because it was such fun to play. Hope you enjoy!

awesome job! There are some alternative 8va bits that aren't in the publication that you should try when you've been playing a bit more. Grondahl didn't write them, but a trombonist called Palmer Trauslen played with alterations and it's now common to leave them in. Mvt 1: 2nd half of bar 65-1st half of 66. Mvt 2:bar 53-end (with an extra trigger Dd on the final pause) Mvt 3: bar 110-118 Again, maybe not just yet, but it's something to aim towards :) congrats again!!!

Rhiannon you have been playing 3.5 years? Holly accomplishment Batman! Great Job, my students aren't even close to what you are doing in the same time period. Keep doing what you are doing or as a great player once told me "you sound great, whatever you are doing just do more of it". I am 55 and I still work with my instrument every day.
