Heyyy, i love your way of teaching everything, is making so much sense! I do have a question, though. On question 97, I understand that you got 2 because 900/450=2. But I still don’t understand how you got that equation ?
@MichaelToohey4 күн бұрын
Good question! If you divide the weight (in pounds) by the number of spores (in millions) you’ll get the pounds per million, right? It’s kind of like rates… if you know the miles and divide by the hours, you’ll get the miles per hour (mph), right? In this case, we’re trying to find the pounds per 1 million spores. So just do the ponds by the millions of spores and you’ve got your answer! Make sense?

Its not gonna be c in question one you yourself told pemdas rule and u forget first u have to add than subtract
@MichaelToohey4 күн бұрын
Thanks for reaching out!! Once you get to just addition and subtraction, it doesn’t matter which one you do first… the reason why is that addition and subtraction are fundamentally the same operation: subtraction is just ADDING a negative number. The rule could just as easily be PEMDSA, but PEMDAS sounds better for sure… That’s why when I get down to addition and subtraction, I just go from left to right. The order doesn’t matter. Make sense?
@Mysterious.56-7864 күн бұрын
@@MichaelToohey though answer is not same when we subtract first
@MichaelToohey4 күн бұрын
@Mysterious.56-786 if you subtract first, you get -18 + 0.75 which is -17.25 If you add first you get -14 + (-3.25) which also -17.25 Make sense?

On question 3 how did you get those common denominators
@MichaelToohey8 күн бұрын
Good question! Getting common denominators can be a tricky operation… one way to get a common denominator it to multiply the denominators together, so in this case you could get a common denominator of 1000 (10*100)… that method always works, but you may not get the lowest common denominator, which will make the addition or subtraction easier… In this question, it helps to just realize you can get a common denominator of 100, simply by multiplying 4/10 by 10/10. You could also multiply 4/10 by 100/100 and 3/100 by 10/10 to get a common denominator of 1000, but there you’d be dealing with bigger values. Make any sense?

For minimum and maximum values will we always look at y value?
@MichaelToohey9 күн бұрын
Yes!! Exactly!! Be aware that sometimes they ask “for what value of x is the function at its minimum,” in which case you need to answer the x value when the y value is at its minimum… Make sense?
@zsgt419710 күн бұрын
Sir for the no of solutions questions.if the equation has Y variables e.g 5y²+10y-16 then will we check for y intercept or still we will check for x intercept
@MichaelToohey9 күн бұрын
Good question! I would rewrite the question as 5x^2 + 10x - 16 and look for the x intercepts… You want to avoid looking for a solution on the y-axis to avoid confusion on other questions.. Make sense?
@cast_ironcook683910 күн бұрын
At 12 minutes for the negative answers why do you put the negatives in parentheses if there are no parentheses in the question?
@MichaelToohey10 күн бұрын
Great question! If you see an expression like x^2 and you’re plugging in a negative value for x, like -3, you have to realize that you’re squaring -3, which means (-3)(-3), which equals 9. The parentheses make it clear that you’re sharing the negative number. If we just wrote it as -3^2 (without parentheses) that would be - (3)^2, which is -9. That’s because you’re only squaring the 3 in that expression, and not squaring (-3)…. Does that make sense?
