The cellist has no excuse: he has technique but nothing musical to offer, new or otherwise. This trombonists (like most great orchestral trombonists) hasn't yet overcome the challenges of the slide, for not be required to by the instruments outdated performance paradigm, and has therefore failed the challenge of making music with this piece. I can hear the 'accepted' sluggish, lugubrious 'chewing' of notes (caused when the articulation precedes the late and settled arrival at the correct position, which gives every note an 'almost' inaudible micro-glissandi) that precedes every note played, and that trombonists too eagerly and too soon 'accept' as being obligated to performance on trombone. Its not! That's why trombonists haven't yet achieved solvency as soloists! In pursuit of simple embouchure virtuosity, their bar for making music makes too many excuses to mechanical technique because it is yet to be modelled for them by a generation of trombonists. As such you can never forget you are listening to an instrument that struggles to get from one note to the next. That's why composers didn't and still don't write for them. Here however are videos of two rare trombonists who 'do' succeed in making you forget how...awkward, and yes...deficient the trombone's mechanics reliably prove to be in the hands of most trombonists. As such, they are therefore amongst the few trombonists that a non-trombonist might endure and actually enjoy listening to. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoXVmKeriMyfgsUsi=Nw4jtkSR9pvfHwW2 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZrQemSupLuSr9Usi=NPbFyeveUbdcOZCK

Bonjour, j'aime bien tes exercices. Tu t'es inspiré d'un ouvrage ou des cours de Fabrice ?
@grandert Жыл бұрын
Since this is played by the same person with the same musicality this proves that trombone is a much harder instrument to play than cello ;) I say this because I know Fabrice is a world class trombonist, so this comment is not meant to demean him. Just a reflection, what do you make out of this?
@camilles8244 Жыл бұрын
It just shows that the piece was written for the cello, dude. From someone who plays both the cello and the trumpet.
@grandert Жыл бұрын
Interesting opinion dude. I hope you understand that my comment want 100% serious. In case you didn’t get that subtlety maybe you can can elaborate what you actually meant? And btw, not sure what you playing trumpet has anything to do with this, trombone has other difficulties that trumpet doesn’t have. From a professional trombone and brass player, conductor and composer ;)

@@grandertit was written with cello physics in mind-the open strings,the bowing,the positions..what one can play by just changing the strings on a cello,let's say the first phrase- takes three different apertures on a trombone and eight movements of the slide,so,go figure)
@grandert2 ай бұрын
@@blev866yes I know because I play this in on trombone. In your example, the first phrase is actually similar since most of the notes are played on 4th position on the trombone over the natural harmonins series. But legato is one of the hardest things you can do on a trombone. On cello you still have to move the bow to change string right? Similar to the change of aperture. Can you name one piece of music that would sound more musical on trombone than cello if he were playing it side by side?

Unfortunately there is no part for all these exercises because it's actually the idea to practice by repeating the example and to transpose it further. Sorry for the inconvenience, I hope you will manage to enjoy the warm-up series like that. Best wishes.
