Interesting that they are doing testimonials in premium. It's almost like a paid version of Trust Pilot but in a place where people re more likely to see unless you know how to fully leverage paid testimonial and review platforms (very limited market). Hopefully they will move that feature to standard pages and see just how powerful it would be to increase engagement - any further insights?

I really, really appreciate you emphasizing the use of captions! I am one of those hearing impaired people. I can't watch television without them, much less videos. Thank you, Gillian!!

Thank you, Lynnaire, for explaining the pros and cons of verifying a LinkedIn profile. Given all the recent data breaches in the news, it's understandable why some people might be hesitant to provide sensitive information like their passport number.

Lynnaire - great info - have a few Q's/comments: Recruiters are saying they don't like it when job seekers use AI. Some have even said they're trying to run resumes thru a source to see if Ai was used for writing the resume. I get the editing and fact checking, but sometimes AI does do a good job with results. What are your thoughts?

@LynnaireJohnston 6 ай бұрын
Personally, I'm not a fan of AI but I recognise that it's a fact of life, like it or not. And I can understand the temptation to use it if you're a weak writer. Recruiters are not going to be able to stop candidates from using it so instead they will need to find other ways to test their skills. If you're jobhunting you will want to use every resource at your disposal to secure an interview. But candidate had better make sure their LinkedIn profiles are in tip-top order if they want to stand out!

You'd think we'd reached a level of LinkedIn etiquette to know better than to send cold, salesy introductory messages by this point. And yet, they persist nonetheless - generally to the detriment of the sender. Are people not catching on that you can't just barrel into someone else's inbox and begin pitching? Or even... and this is subtler - assume there's a shared interest, when in fact you've missed other signs to indicate that such overlap is superficial. There's a fair bit of prep involved in approaching someone unknown, and too often we act like bulls in china shops. Or assume our native enthusiasm, which might allow us to get away with spontaneously initiating a conversation in real life, also carries over into a strictly inbox encounter. Bad approach.

An excellent summary of the dumb message approach, Alexander. And I agree, it's totally inappropriate but still they keep on coming. Thanks for your input here. 🌺🌺

I think it's fair enough for people not to know the 'why' they want to network because life has a lot of serendipity and the right connections are often found in unlikely places. But yes can't go scatter gun approach and quality over quantity but maybe tips on how people should and can come up with a 'why'?
