No, no twisting; however, I do wrap any loose hair around the loc. Eventually I will crochet it back into place. No products used aside from water and a little oil to lock in the moisture. Thanks for watching/commenting!

I used a bulk afro kinky hair that I purchased from Macon Styles. Because it's afro kinky, you have to coil it like I demonstrate in the video. It's time consuming to keep up with, so beware, but it's very cute!

He does have a curl pattern tho. It's not ethnic hair but he still has a curl pattern. Im tired of people saying hair like this doesn't have a curl pattern. I've been a hair stylist for 20 years and this is wavy and if you treated it like curly hair it will coil up scrunching and putting curly hair products in it. It's not tight curls tho

I want to loc my hair so bad but my hair is straight asf nd when I say straight I mean straighter than lil man in the videos hair. My hair is thin, straight nd no waves or curl to it whatsoever , straight Indian hair. Can any experts or anyone with experience tell me if it’ll even be possible before I let it grow any more? Yes. The crochet/instant loc method is universal and can be accomplished with all hair types. Honestly, you could use any material - crochet is an artform and it's all about technique.

The length is sacrificed for thickness. The crochet needle allows me to pull hair up and in to form the loc which inturn causes the hair to look shorter - none was cut, it was all utilized to form the loc.

How long (inches) do you recommend is needed for someone to start locs?

You only need 3 inches to get started, BUT, they will end up being able 1 inch after the process and will not relax. If you want them to lay down, 8-10 inches of "straight hair" and you'll end up with around 6-7 inch locs that would be easy to train.

Yes, that is suggested for continued maintenance. No point in reverting to methods that don't give this result.

I started using one of those silicone finger tip covers because girl, I'd stab my thumb so much it was literally bleeding 😭 Edit to add that this tool also comes in triples now!! 🎉 Even faster!

Thanks for your comment. This is true for a lot of folks, hate that I didn't address it. I do not recommend semi-freeform if all or the majority of your new growth grows/breaks away from the loc. Maintenance is key in your situation. I recommend crochet as it may yield the best results long term.

Hello! I'm trying to do a somewhat true to life pirate cosplay and figured locs would be a pretty realistic hairstyle option, but my job has pretty strengent hair style regulations so I'd have to be able to take them out pretty soon. Like next day-within the week. Would that be possible? Also, would this damage my hair? It is very strait and fine.

This process is not recommended for temporary results. For a temporary look, you can use products like wax or gel with hair spray for hold. Or maybe a cheap wig? Good luck.
