Murray was out for BOTH those playoff runs and Joker carried those teams into the playoffs and even managed to keep them competitive, winning a series and losing to the conference champion one year and the nba champion the next. This narrative that whoever wins the MVP has to be on a team that wins its conference or makes it to the conference finals to make the mvp valid is asinine when not all teams are created equal. Joker won mvp for his insane numbers and the second mvp, which his critics most complain about, he won because he carried a banged up nuggets roster to a 47 win season and the 6th seed in the postseason avoiding the play-in. That year, he played well in the playoffs, kept the nuggets competitive and even stole a game from the eventual champion Warriors in the first round. He didnt lose to an 8 seed or get swept by some chumps, even without his best teammate. Thats like taking kobe from shaq in 2000 or scottie from michael in 91, the year after their real postseason breakthroughs when they won their first titles...and you keep them for two postseasons. We likely are looking at a totally different history.
