How is the heat treat on the Tors blades? Are they users or just wall hangers? I hear Kailash blades have a much better heat treatment and that the Tora blades are more chippy or less durable for

Very interesting, I actually own an original green rubber handled with a green leather sheath- Blackjack Marauder 1 which is this exact same blade only about 75-80% the size and also mine unfortunately did not come with a convexed edge rather it has a traditional edge bevel... So any of the Blackjack/Ambush/Marbles knives that do have a beautifully convexed edge on them were hand ground by Mike Stewart himself... I talk with him often and for hours on end just sharing knife history and learning quite alot from him the man is basically an encyclopedia for anything edged! I've been fortunate to hunt down and purchase a handful of Blackjack prototype knives verified by Mr Stewart and am constantly in search of other rare and original early Blackjacks... The Marauder 2 I have yet to aquire and can't even imagine how well it would perform after using the heck out of my smaller Marauder 1 and seeing just how capable it is! I know this is an old video but if by chance you'd be willing to sell this one I would certainly be interested and willing to pay a handsome sum for it also...

Truly outstanding collection, and here I was having a hard time trying to rank my two Toras. How do maintain them to keeping looking new both the blades and handles?

Commies in Nepal? You do know Gurkhas are a regiment of the British army right? North of Nepal, Tibet has been occupied by the Chinese not Nepal. Free Tibet!

This design has the most functional size chakmak & karda on any modern kukuri I've seen anywhere sold online. I wish you had existed in 2013 when I bought my kukuri from Tora Kukuri. I carry my kukuri in a patuka as well when hiking the mountains where I live.

Namaste! I enjoyed your video concerning these knives. I do have a question concerning your method of heat-treating. I am interested in knives that are heat-treated using the method of having the edge harder than the middle and the back an even softer final hardness creating a spring-like effect. Do you use this hardness method when creating knives and kukris?

I use a whetstone, it worked pretty well but I totally get the area where you can lose contact. I negate this by changing angle while sharpening, takes some practice so don’t test it on your good knives!

I got a GK&Co ww2 kukri for $120 and I was really disappointed. Machine grind marks, burrs on the edge, soldering spots on the knife blade. Overall it was very crudly made with rough manufacturing marks, uneven grinds and the blade was very waivy. The small knifes was so rough it looked like my kids made them. Sorry, I expected handmade with pride but i got a boat anchor at best.

I found a much easier and faster way as long as you haven't destroyed the edge of your kukuri. Vsharp classic ll. My brand new kukuri from great Gurka Kukuri house had a sharp edge from the factory. I ran the blade ten passes through the sharpener and the edge is easily twice as sharp! I use it for my kitchen and hunting knives. Dose well on the whole blade. Sharpener costs around eighty bucks, but well worth what you spend.

Good review. I learned new things. Going to watch your other videos. My 1st Kukri was the Becker Reinhardt and my second one which arrived this week was the Condor k-tact. I checked the Condor website and they say the sheath is made of ''Kydex®''.

I use a Block Sharpener. Two small crossed honing steels held in a plastic handle. I had one about 40 years ago and recently found the son of the inventor still making them in the USA. I have a 25 year old Chinese kitchen butcher knife, paper slicing sharp, only maintained on the honing steel it came with.

Not sure why anyone would try and make feather sticks like this is a knife. Pull the wood, while the Kukri is locked on a stump or something of the like.
