Kantara (Al Qantarah El Sharqiyya ) is on or close to the Suez canal. There is a large military cemetery there containing over a thousand UK service men from the Great War (and several hundreds - many Polish - from the second war). El 'Arish is on the Mediterranean coast (I think). Willie Ferguson who wrote it was a pipe-major in the HLI during The Great War. It is a good tune. The soldiers of the Great War would have moved on foot between the two places. Tiring.

Just read your description. Such a pity. Lovely music. I had to type Armagh Pipers club to get this video. KZbin search doesn't have it priority. Thanks for your patience and work recording this. I'm enjoying it.

Hi, Many thanks for your kind comments. I really love the Armagh Pipers who come to Piping Live. Unfortunately I received some deplorable treatment at the hands of some officials at the Street Cafe in 2022 so I no longer go there to record or listen. Eric

They're a Malaysian band, and they're planning a return in 2025, I think! Really nice folks, too.

That's a snare drum? It sounds like someone playing on a Tupperware plastic bowl.

The tunes are Donald MacLean's Farewell to Oban (march), The Cameronian Rant (strathspey),, and Pretty Marion (reel).
@mattyb24977 ай бұрын
The March is The Argyllshire Gathering. The Spey and Reel are as @eewallace has correctly identified.

well played, I very much enjoyed this. Just to admit, set is given not fully correctly. Strathspey is "Dora MacLeod", not "Susan MacLeod".

Hi, I viewed the Hepburns, father & son playing Tobermory Bay on the pipes. I love the tune & would love to play it. Finding the sheet music has been impossible. I was hoping the band would have the sheet music & I would love a link to it. Regards, Glen.
