No leg ropes, if you came off, you had to swim for your board, we had to be fitter than these muppets eith jet skis?

Thankyou Wiki Beach Boys. Your influence has made surfing, what it has become. The late afternoon tubes,seeing the suiluet of sun through the lip of the wave. Again Thankyou.

Awesome bra, I was born in 61' and grew up surfing thru all of this, most of those originals I had the pleasure to surf with and I also rode for Terry at HB. My uncle was Bonza who won the 64' World Jnr Title at Manly so I was lucky to feel very part of all of this progression. Thanks for the memories....

My late father surfed and paddle boarded from about 1930 to the late 1940s in San Diego, San Onofre and around Los Angeles' beaches. I remember seeing the ruins of a redwood and balsa board that must have been 9' long in a backyard shed when I was a kid in the 1960s.

Surfing must be done on a Surfboard, Totora's are not surfboards, meaning surfing is an ancient Polynesian (likely Tongan) practise.
@liliuokalani70643 жыл бұрын
Polynesians have been around for over 8,000 years, who's to say my ancestors weren't surfing before the first written occurrence of the skill and mastery of he'e nalu. And why wouldn't they? They were already master navigators of the vast ocean 8,000 years ago. Peru's water boat was totally different than he'e nalu. Peru used a boat and paddle, sitting down for fishing. We used a wooden board standing up gliding on the wave as it break, just as you see it today, for competitive sport and social status. Of course, others want to take credit for inventing the sport of surfing. These are comparable to a single man canoe rather than a surfboard. Polynesians used single man canoes with a paddle, sitting down to fish and ride waves back into shore.

Peruvians didn't "surf", as they didn't use surfboards. Meaning Polynesians did invent surfing.
