Most of Russian people do not put stress in "занята" in correct way (last syllable). Usually they put stress in the first syllable, though it is wrong! Like me when I speak "correct" in English, though I know how it should be. :)

I love reading practice. I love this for fluency drill practice. Thank you for putting stress marks on the vowels in words, as there are some *tone-deaf* listeners who have too great a trouble in distinguishing vowels and tones in their flawed hearing. Stress marks are a HUGE HELP, so please always use them in your new tutorials. Many thanks. I look forward to seeing more of your new videos on reading practice. Thank you also for punctuating subtitles. They hugely help us learn Russian.

Hi, Rita! Thank you for your nice comment and feedback. I know Russian word stress is a challenge for learners. That's why I always use them in the subtitles for my videos and the reading materials in readline.app (there, you can challenge/check yourself by toggling them on/off). Glad you find that helpful! 😊

Why did you say на дворе instead of на улице? Haven't heard this one yet. Is there any difference in usage?
@insimplerussian4 ай бұрын
На дворе is an idiom. It's quite colloquial. It could be translated as 'outside/out there' or 'now' when referring to time of day/year/etc. На дворе лето - It's summer out there/now, на дворе ночь - It's night time. На улице is typically used when referring to weather. На улице дождь - it's raining, на улице жара - it's very hot out.

Hi, guys! Together with my husband and a good friend, I’m building this app to help you learn Russian! My friend and I write, edit, and translate every article. We also record and edit voice overs and create images you see on the website. A lot of effort and time goes into it, but this way we make sure you get the highest quality material that reads and sounds natural (and is super interesting on top!). My husband codes the entire thing. It’s a work in progress, and what you see here is the first version. We’ll be adding a lot more articles and features in the future. As it is in Beta right now, it’s completely free! But don’t forget to leave your email for updates on new articles and features! 😜 Let me know if you have any questions regarding the app. And please give us feedback here in the comments so we can build it all together! Start reading and listening here: readline.app/library Cheers!
