1929 cocobolo is my favorite, but it looks so classy on many of your designs

About Ultem… you say it is tough? That it is NOT likely to break when you drop it? I beg to differ! I was surprised that you would say, specifically, that it is tough, because that is NOT my experience! I put Ultem scales on one of my Para 3s, and the first and only time I ever dropped that knife, less than 3’ onto a hardwood floor, one of my scales cracked across the standoff screw (I was careful not to over-tighten any of the screws)! Ultem is the most fragile handle material I have known! I thought it was beautiful, but now I wouldn’t have it on any knife I own…
@yankee2yankee2 ай бұрын
Let me just say, in advance, that there can be no ideal knife handle material, so the question, “what is the best handle material,” is a stupid one! Clearly, each handle material benefits some circumstances more than others. I like copper for its beautiful color, however, it is also heavy (by an ounce or two per knife), and cold in the hand, in cold weather. G-10 is remarkably tough, and warm in the hand, but it’s not excessively beautiful! Titanium is almost perfect, but it is cold-looking, cold in the hand, and it scratches. Aluminum is light, but it scratches much worse! Wood is nice and warm, and beautiful, but sometimes cracks and falls off! There are advantages and disadvantages to each and every handle material, but we can rest assured, they ALL work just fine, most of the time!

I own the Devils Finger in the canyon red micarta, but I absolutely loved the sequoia green version with the satin blade finish. Since it was a popular model, and you recently re-released the Model 1934, does that mean you may re-release the Devils Finger somewhere down the line?

I bought your 2 new Model 1929s and both had defects. Since I'm in Canada I can't send them for warranty because the border agency is going to seize them on reentry. 😔

We have a new knife coming out at the end of the month with S35VN! This one is called the Undertaker.
@ThomasConnolly3 ай бұрын
@FinchKnifeCo I just looked up the Finch Knife Co Undertaker, and I'm not a fan of how it looks😞 The Nocturnal has a very similar look/vibe of the Spyderco Watu, which is why I really like the Nocturnal. But I always hated how the Spyderco Watu has a compression lock mechanism on such a thin/slim knife and how Spyderco put a bulbous knob on the front edge of the Watu's ricasso. That bulbous know hits your finger every time you use one hand to flick its blade closed. The Nocturnal is essentially the Watu that's a flipper knife with a liner lock, which is exactly what the Spyderco Watu should have been from the very beginning👍 It would be awesome to eventually see a dealer exclusive Finch Knife Co Nocturnal made with a blade of S35VN steel or an ever better steel🙏🏼

Bead blast
@Reegareth4 ай бұрын
The bead blast is in my opinion the best for someone who uses their knife and doesn't want it to look terrible after awhile. The DLC is also quite nice for this and is actually really good for those who use their knives in a more harsh environment. The polished finish is for someone who doesn't use their knife lol. As someone who has purchased knives and polished them up they are tough to keep nice and shiny looking while also using it. I have a Becker BK2 that I brought up to a mirror finish and it looked fantastic but I use my knives and it still looks great but you can see tons of micro scratches in the blade now.

Great idea and I for one would love a traditional style knife with a button lock! Not sure if you guys like input or not but for a button lock I suggest making the button lock knife a sturdy plunge lock that won't fail with a simple spine wac that some KZbinrs might point out and call it dangerous also make the plunge lock feel like it has a detent (I heard that's hard to do). I would suggest putting a compression style lock on the knife like what's on the Spyderco Smock and I also think people are calling it a top liner lock like some of Vosteeds knives and or a button actuated liner lock. ✌️

You guys are awesome. Could you tell me if the Ivory Micarta can be dyed with I think people use Rit dye? Thanks in advance.
@FinchKnifeCo5 ай бұрын
Yes you can! Rit dying is a great way to add some personalization to your knife. As with many things, though, each one will probably turn out different. Don't be surprised if yours doesn't turn out exactly like a tutorial you saw online.
