What hurt those companies are the prejudices of a highly vocal minority of customers. Corporations need to sell product to stay alive. Expanding their market is the only logical solution. Bikers are not just one community, all sorts of people are bikers, including the LGBT communities. Why does anyone care if Harley or any other company markets to a wider audience? America is about freedom, and bikers back in the day were freedom seekers and rebels who were unable to find the freedom they wanted in the strict conventual society of the day. It's like parents disowning their own children. They are supposed to be the guardians of the Harley family. They have denied the sole purpose of their existence, which is to uphold American liberty against intruders who have no place in the Harley family. They disgraced the camaraderie; the rides of charity; and the heritage going back 121 years! Indian bikes go back to 1900! These two together have given more freedom to the open road than any other technology. To see American companies sell out to foreign nations who are as far from Constitutional liberty as socialism is to Western thought is shameful because "the love of money is the root of all evil" (I Timothy 6:10). Musk has ten other commitments. His "production hell" method of industrial engineers scurrying around fixing problems while selling "early production models" to customers is terrible. Agile hardware.
