One of the great drives, even if it was only from second last to first. The last placed car, not shown on TV, had an even worse start to the Great Race. They ended up finishing fifteenth.

I heard this was the final year that a completely Aussie produced engine was raced at Bathurst (Touring Car series). If that's true, it's entirely appropriate that it won and beat a grid of US engines. Aussies really knew how to build a strong V8.

It was a Chev powered Commodore as they all were from ‘94 onwards. All the other teams had a sook after LP destroyed the field in ‘93 with Holden power and his own slide throttle design, consequently they banned Holden engines in Holden cars🤷🏽♂️🙄 This last to first win mostly came down to LP reliability, and building his own brake calipers in house that could take custom made 40mm thick Endless brake pads, so they didn’t need a brake pad change for the whole race. The next year they made pad change mandatory. LP was the master of working within the rule book to beat the bigger teams.

Larry kept wheels with 5 studs when everyone else went to a single central hub. He said it has better security. I loved larrys philosophy and very happy he won the race that day. He was a mechanic and driver.

Brad Jones was either incredibly gallant or Larry was so intent coming on to Pit Straight that Jonesy opened it up on the last turn . So much of this win was Larry's incredible ability to make such a tough racecar . If anyone had belief in their car , it was always going to be Larry .
