I'm guessing that the dolly is locked in, otherwise it's be all over the joint

Not sure why this just came up on my feed, but nicely done sir! I only pulled double 28s- all single axle including the tractor, and I couldn’t do it no matter how much I practiced. I always heard about a fellow driver from a different yard that could not only back up the set, he could put the kite into a dock door- and straight- in one shot. I never saw it tho…

I would think that besides keeping the rear trailer in check, the next most difficult and constant effort would be continual correction on the short wheelbase dolly on the 2nd trailer. So watch the trend of the rear of the second trailer and constantly adapt to the dolly. Everything else should follow.

The worst back-up to me is a single-axle tractor with two 28-foot pup trailers. The secret is "keep it as straight as you can". Easier said than done. LOL

Most of the European drivers can't do that only with one trailer.... ....respect....😁👌

How many hitches/hinge points are there in this combination? I counted three. Is that right? Sorry if the question is dumb, I'm not a truck driver and don't know much about this stuff. But if that's a Combination with three rotating "joints" - holy shit, I didn't know that it's actually possible to back this. I thought standard b trains with two fifth wheels were pretty much the most difficult thing to back

This is Canada, not the US. This company is no longer in business as they were bought out shortly after Sears closed for good up here. The company name (SLH) stands for Sears Line Haul. Although Sears was their main source, they had alot of regular freight as well. I know as I worked out of the Toronto location, the same terminal as the driver backing this set up. I did not know him as I was night shift but I did know all the night drivers doing this.

@@mohammadrabbani4590 I was talking to a broker that went over to CAT from SLH and he was not happy. The pay is much lower, he use to run out West as a team but they took that away from the brokers, etc. Very few drivers actually went to CAT as they don't have many day cab positions and no LCV switches or shuntting like we had in Vaughan (which later they moved to Shawson before being bought out).

Great job there driver.👍👍🏆 I seen this done in a drop lot in upstate New York about 19 years ago & it just blew my mind. I had been driving OTR for a few months. They told us in driving school that this could not be done, I told them just because they couldn't do it didn't make it impossible. When I went back to visit the school, boy did I have a story to tell them! Stay safe & healthy out there. Spoke to ya later, Ka moan.😎

I guess that you don't understand that there is a dolly coupling these trailers together. The dolly is connected to the first trailer via pigtail which moves around from side to side when backing, also there is 3 pivot points as with b-trains there are only 2. I seen this done about 18 years ago & it just blew my mind. I went over, talked to the driver & ask him how long it took to acquire the skills to back up like that. He said it's something that he just picked up quickly & that the 53' trailers were easier than the short pups, same as it's easier to back a single 53' compared to a 28' trailer. You can go back to playing your video game on the truck simulator.

As a start, first holding the dolly in a straight line, in line with the rear axle of the front trailer. Then compact steering with the rear of the front trailer.👍 Well done!

True but putting a 6 foot dolly between the trailers that can't be locked in is also extremely difficult. I ran B trains for this same company alot and I mastered backing those in but when I was trained to hook up and break down these trains, BIG difference.
