The actress playing Helen, Anne Haddy, used to tease the younger actors and try to put them off their lines by going knickerless and flashing her "growler" at them. It always left them sputtering apparently.

First time viewer. After growing up on American soaps I am enjoying this very much. Though the theme music and beginning was a bit misleading😂

This may sound old-fashioned, but I much preferred Neighbours back then, as the storylines were more family-friendly, and the characters were generally good-looking without them all looking like supermodels. There was also Sharon, who wasn't really slim, but also wasn't obese, and she didn't have any problem attracting men. Compare this to Tess, who said if she carried on eating chocolate biscuits, she wouldn't find Mr Right. This was in the late 90s/early 2000s. Later on, Neighbours became more about babes in bikinis, more focussed on teenagers, and less wholesome storylines. Shortly before she left, Anne Haddy (Helen) said she didn't like there being more sex storylines with the teenagers. There was also the ridiculously unbelievable storylines surrounding Sky when she was older - she dated Boyd and both the Timmins brothers, all in the same street....whilst her friend Serena, also in Ramsay Street had a fling with Boyd and dated Stingray. All in the same circle, all dating each other. Yeah right 🙄 It may not all have been believable in the older days, but it was more believable than this. Someone interviewed in the UK in the late 80s/early 90s, said they liked Neighbours because it was brighter than the British soaps like Eastenders. So they shouldn't have changed it.

Home & away and that other one Neighbours and then there was a country practice - it was like a phycological warfare blitz on us here in Ireland. Those Australian soaps just made me leave the house so I did not even hear them in the background. The most horrid tripe ever broadcast on TV.

Hi! I would appreciate it if someone could post a video of the first meeting with Mike and Jane and when it was their first kiss. and when they went to the school dance. I would also like to see the episode when Charlene and Steve had kissed each other and Scott came home and found out and that Scott and Charlene became a couple again at their party for all the neighbors Scott and Charlene danced. Scott, Mike, Henry, Desmond (Des) played. Did Lucie fall down a hole in a well? but Scott saved her. I know there were a lot of videos, but I have nothing left of that video and can't watch it anymore. If anyone has it, please put it up, I can subscribe to that person just so I can see the video again

Its funny the Australians are neighbourly not like that in the UK so many horrible unfriendly neighbours in the UK.
@richallenxbox1976 Жыл бұрын
Actually, my late Nan had Aussie relatives, and she says Aussies aren't as neighbourly as portrayed on the soaps, on the contrary their front doors are gated.
@marktaurus206 Жыл бұрын
@richallenxbox1976 Majority of Europeans are not Australians they are not indigneos, the Aborigines are the Indigneous, most Australians are originally from England and Ireland so have a very British behaviour tbh.

How far behind was the episodes of neighbours in the UK at this time ?
@pipoo12 жыл бұрын
About 18 months.
@TF80s Жыл бұрын
@@pipoo1 no, I'd say by this time BBC were probably just over a year behind Oz...BBC never really took it off much throughout the year whereas it was off for weeks/months during the Christmas period in Oz..so UK would have caught up quite a bit by this period.
