Have listened to this band for nearly 30 years…the sound of Parkes’ corp and his drones set up always blows me away…and I’m a drummer.

wow,listening to a band tune up is a favorite thing to do at competitions,watching the intricacies involved makes you appreciate piping that much more and then when they combine the drums after their tuning and [practice you see why it sounds so greaaat

How are Bagpipes tuned?
@chrisnorton83633 жыл бұрын
The chanter reed can be sunk into the chanter or lifted out of its seat to sharpen / flatten the pitch accordingly. The tape that you see the guys adjusting allows for fine tuning of the notes. The chap with the microphone holding it above the drones is tuning the drones. These are moved up and down, again to either flatten or sharpen the pitch. Hope that makes sense.

What slow tempos. Extremely - as Bob Worrall would say - "careful" tempos are apparently the order of the day. Apparently bands are (1) terrified of making a mistake, as though they have zero chance of winning for one note error, or (2) are emulating solo pipers, who play MSRs w a y too slowly. Have a listen to proper tempos of the same set here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqjKlmSaj65-btk

Jeez the piper front rank on left looks slopy af! I thought tenor drumers had to be women, great to see some blokes bashing the skins.

Was there and I have to say never, in my life as a spectator, have I been overcome to such a degree by pure class, The sound and playing was just magic, Many thanks to PM Parkes for the pleasure given by this band . Irrespective of final result on the day, for me, this is what going to the worlds is all about.

Do you know why they do this? What is achieved by having the pipers only play the beginning and end?
@Marc1996L5 жыл бұрын
Pipers maybe wanted to do an intro and then maybe tweak some bits while they’ve stopped n the drummers will just keep going
