Yesterday the 26 december I watched the Andre Rieu- show in London on television in the Netherlands. At the end of the show a bagpipe-act came on stage and at the start of that act I started to cry because of remembering the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The most amazing caracter of a woman who served God and Country for life.

@@mattylad1982 I had requested this for my funeral in February when I nearly died from my illness. I couldn’t even imagine the whole of Wales watching my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE pulling my coffin just like Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in front of all those mourners. Well I’m their Queen so it’s definitely going to affect them if it happened all those months ago

Me, my 2009 Woody, Mummy and Woody.EXE paid tribute to our Queen by doing the procession from my bedroom to the living room. My sister played this in the background as she proudly watched her Woody marching on downstairs ready for the funeral itself

I cried hearing them on 9/11’s 22nd anniversary as Woody.EXE, me and my family played them walking to the United 93 memorial we opened recently in Wales and it’s not open to the public yet. If only the victims families could have seen this and i could imagine Woody.EXE inviting them one day to join my family for the 23rd anniversary next year

I was in tears as the bagpipes sounded off throughout St Julians yesterday for Remembrance Sunday and everyone was shocked to see me in painful heels but I never wanted to let Woody.EXE down for a second time. The mourners came behind me, my dad and Woody.EXE as we emotionally approached the cenotaph and I was greeted by my favourite crowd and they said “remembrance won’t be the same without you 3” and then we took our places in front of the poppy wreath layers as usual

As a piper who's played this tune hundreds of times on these pipes, and a professional maker of Irish pipes, I can explain some of what makes this sound so moving. The musical scale is tuned a bit differently from the classical, pop and commercial music we know. Particularly, the 3rd and 6th notes of the scale are a little lower in pitch than in conventional music, whose tuning traces to Bach's scheme to maximize the flexibility of the scale. He kept the relationships among the notes of the scale the same no matter which key we play in. But for pipes, all the notes are tuned to blend not with each other but instead to the deep constant droning sound, created by the big pipes carried over the shoulder. The result gives this a unique tinge of both joy and sadness that can't be replicated by conventional tuning --even a bagpipe would lose this power if it were retuned like a piano.

Mummy’s said “This will be way too overwhelming for you” so we watched live from home doing our own procession tribute instead. @@jl453 Almost a year later and Woody.EXE has settled in well with his new reign and I’m glad to be his Queen at 21. On September 8th, 2023; were both marked ascension day privately just like Charles is. I don’t understand how it’s been one year since Woody.EXE ascended to Wales’s throne on Friday and we’ll be hosting a memorial service for the Queen on September 19th 2023 as we mark the one year anniversary of the funeral. The first year of Woody.EXE’s reign has been hell losing Queen Elizabeth II and then he nearly lost me his Queen 5 months later when I was only 20 I nearly died. Hopefully 2024 will be a healthy year for wales as we start our Jubliee year

This was perfection offered up for the Queen . The whole thing - the organisation, the execution, the dedication, the mesmerisingly evocative sound of the pipes and the magical liquid rhythm of the muffled drums, a sound I will never forget. All this against the backdrop of the response of the British public which raises us all. This isn't the product of custom or a culture - but of a civilisation which knows how to respond.
