I would have loved to have gotten one of those wooden seats. I appreciate nostalgia, and to think that those seats were there through it all is mind-blowing. I lived in Tampa, FL back in the early two thousands and before I moved away I took a ride down to the old Tampa Sportatorium. It looked like a regular office building from the outside. So I'm peering in windows when a maintenance worker for the building approached me. We talked wrestling for a while, turns out he was a fan back in the 70s and 80s. He then offered to give me a tour inside. It really was surreal. Standing in the spot where the ring used to be, where Dusty, Terry and Dory Funk, Barry Windham, BlackJack Mulligan, Ron Bass, Harley Race, Ric Flair, Kevin Sullivan, Ernie Ladd, Mark Lewin, etc. competed was kind of sad just like Kevin Von Erich said about the Dallas Sportatorium. But the best part was when he said he wanted to show me one more thing. In a storage room were the original ring ropes and all four original ring posts that had sat there for almost twenty years. It was an unbelievable experience that I won't soon forget. It's been another fifteen years since then and thirty seven years since Florida Championship Wrestling closed up shop for good back in 1987 and the building is still there. Hulk Hogan who got his start in the Sportatorium was recently photographed out in front.

He was never the same after the Trinidad fight. Before that fight he was more of a fiery boxer-puncher. However he was unusually mature and smart as a fighter, winning championships at a young age. It seemed like he was overcompensating after the Trinidad fight taking his machismo in high gear and focusing on being a total warrior. However before the Trinidad fight, he was a warrior in the ring, but fought with a contained furry and was smart in the ring. I think if he went back to his original style he would have been more successful, post-Trinidad. Props to Fernado for never showing any signs of fear after the Trinidad fight. He in fact fought with more furry. Real ballsy guy. I just think he needed to go back to his original boxer-punched style. I think it would have lengthened his career and he would have had more success.

Julio Cesar Chavez was a Mexican treasure. I have never seen anyone embody so much pride in their country then Julio Cesar Chavez! I tell my boys this was a role model.

@1:09 when he says "Oh, there's a lot left in here, Brian" that is probably in reference to former World Class wrestler Brian Adias who was a lifelong friend of the Von Erich family.

Money talks… so many buildings and structures that could and should have been preserved and designated landmarks but instead were demolished/destroyed in the name of the almighty dollar.

I liked the crowds back then. Everyday working class wholesome people. Now it's just beer drinking ticktock gronks in the crowds at fight events.

As cool as it is to see and hear him walk through the arena/where the ring was, for me, him going into Fritz’ old office was the most interesting part. All those years later and you can still hear the love and respect he had for his father.
