This was like the last hurrah of AC Milan the most glamorous club in the the Italian Serie A which was arguably the best and highest quality league in the world in the world from the late 1970s to early 2000s before the English Premier league with help from satellite and cable television and internet became the dominant league worldwide taking the mantle that the Italian Serie A had between the late 1970s to early 2000s. However I would say the best football ever played was by the Italian Serie A. Had some of the greatest players in history with Maradona, Argentine and Brazilian superstars. The best of Italy like Baggio, Maldini, Baresi, The best of England like Gascoigne and Platt, The best of Holland with Van Basten, Rijaard and Gullit and the best of Germany with Mathaeus, Ruminegge, Brehme and Voller. It was one hell of a league in its day. Some in England though criticised the league despite its high quality for lack of attacking play. Which maybe true as Italian coaches were cautious and believed strong defences where as in the English league defenses were far weaker and more pentrable and resulted in more goals. But the Italian league had extremely high quality better than anything the English Premier League had in the last 25 years. I don't think Italian serie a will ever get their glory days back like back then. But its is still a good quality league just not as well known as back then. Italian crowds don't go to the football like they used to back then. They know the Serie A is nowhere near as good as back then. You could say 2003 was the last year before Seria A became just another league.

Kids these days are used to seeing players score 40/50 goals a season. Back then 30 goals in a season was a fantastic tally for a striker and Ronaldo scored 42 from right wing. It was absolutely unheard of and such a joy to watch.
