Unpopular opinion but this is my favorite Mass effect game despite the ending. Yes the ending could and should have been stronger but the rest of this game is just phenomenal in my eyes. The combat system is by far the most fun and engaging out of the trilogy, and I really love the way that the story arcs are told and how they end. Not to mention the opening just gives me chills every time I see it. Every time I do another playthrough I look forward to this game the most.

Nothing wrong with the genophage It's just stabilize their population wich always become overwhelming compare to other species. Too bad Hawke couldn't react to the revelation that Orsino was helping Quintin. Though it does explain as to why one of the Circle Mages had so easily disappeared. The Circle mages aren't allowed to leave the gallows unless it was by order of Orsino and Meridith. So if Orsino made some bogus story to Meridith about the mage helping them, Meridith would allow it (she wasn't crazy at the time).

You know. The more time that goes by since I did my last play through of this game. The more time I spend thinking about how the Warden situation was handled in DA:I. And honestly there is a part of me that feels like as a whole the Wardens were just needlesly shat on, narratively speaking. It felt like there was a real effort to demonize, sideline, or even completely get rid of the Wardens altogether despite what their (very legitimate) purpose was. And this pisses me the hell off. Perhaps because, to this day I am still a DA:O fan. I LOVE my Warden, there was a reason why I played and refined my warden's legacy through so many playthroughs. And this is why I have and probably will always care more about my Warden's (both the Hero and the Organization) fate then whatever happens in DA2 or DA:I. So perhaps i did take it a bit personally when the whole Warden conundrum happens in Inquisition. I felt wrong about fighting the Wardens, and I didnt like any of the options laid in front of me for dealing with the leftovers if there were any. And as a result there is this tiny little tin foil hat in me that says this was Biowares way of removing this foundational group from the collective mind of the players. They have (to my memory) stated multiple times in the past how they were moving on from the Wardens and how our Heros story was done. It was as if they tried to solidify that position within this story and signal that it was a done deal. Which i think is a shame regardless, considering how well regarded DA:O is today. I am probably wrong about this. but regardless I still feel like the Wardens were given a bad deal, for perhaps nothing more then to move the plot along and kill the hope of ever seeing yourself striding in the Hero of Fereldron's boots against the darkspawn once again.
@damkina11113 жыл бұрын
I feel the same way. Bioware's writers mostly changed so no respect for the legendary scenerio back then... so sad
@nyettehforshort71313 жыл бұрын
It's just so weird. Like they deleted the HoF from the universe. In Inquisiton everyone knows her! (My warden isn't a queen and still) Like she is a key figure in Ferelden. And yeah of course she shaits on everything and tries to find the cure. Believable story yea... If there is a cure WHY THEY NEVER TRIED TO FIND IT? It would make more sense to save the older/more skilled wardens like Duncan instead of sending them to Orzammar and recruit new ones... So many people said that in the canon ending the warden dies, it would be hard to include them blablabla. But Kieran had an important storyline in Inquisiton. Aaand Kieran can only exist if THE HOF SURVIVED THE BLIGHT. Which means the writers knew that most of the players saved the warden, but they just rather dump everything from the previous games in the trash. Like the wardens, the mage-templar issue, the 90% of your choices from DAO and DA2, old characters...the writing is so much more different now. I have no idea how I feel about DA4. I ADORE DAO and it's kind of sad to see my favorite game transforming into a mediocre rpg.

I don't think narrative shat on the Wardens, but more it meant to display how the Blight they used to fight darkspawn was a two-way street and could be used to influence them, this is probably building up to something in future games, but otherwise these Wardens are very consistent to the Wardens from Origins, I am talking about Duncan and Reordan. The Wardens are supposed to be much like real life soldiers, but with no Geneva convention or oversight otherwise, they are the "Do whatever it takes" type of organization, "Desperate times" and all that. They are not your typical fantasy heroes in shining armor and I hope this will stay true going forward, despite the more light-hearted tone of Veilguard.

In war, victory. In peace, vigilance. In death, sacrifice. Grey wardens do what they must it's about duty. People don't understand that. True. I wouldn't agree with your words exactly, but Grey Warde-wise it's true. They are the "do whatever it takes" type of people, sometimes it works out for them, sometimes it plays against them like the whole Blight being a two-way street thing and being duped by Corypheous. They are basically like real life militaries and soldiers, but without Geneva convention and any oversight.

I don't get the people in Inquisition who say that the Wardens are outdated and unneeded. The latest Blight was only ten years prior to the game. If they so desperately need a reason why the Wardens are necessary, look no further than that.
@PsPmoddedOUT3 жыл бұрын
Yeah doesnt make a lot of sense. Just like everybody thought the blights were over after the 4th one? There's 7 old gods so there has to be at the minimum 2 more blights coming
@darylmcmexican5393 жыл бұрын
While I do believe they're wrong for thinking that, I think it's not unreasonable for people to come to that conclusion. Or at least for non-fereldan anyway. The fifth blight only lasted for one year and was contained to just Ferelden. Even the codex entry said that some scholars doubted it's a real blight. Also, the previous blight was 400 years prior, so most people have already forgotten about it. It's believable that some shortsighted people would think the Wardens are unnecessary, it's just the way people are. As for Sera being in Ferelden at the time and still thinking that way, she's like the poster child for shortsightedness lol
@spiderlily70583 жыл бұрын
@@darylmcmexican539 Fair enough on the short-sightedness bit. Still with news coming out of the Deep Roads all the time about Dark Spawn, and Corypheus's False Calling whipping them (along with the Wardens) up into a frenzy to the point where they were swarming the Storm Coast, it's easy to see why the Wardens would still be needed. I guess what really needled me is that the game tried to make you think the option to exile them was the right one. Even Solas chews your ear off if you keep them. I mean, if you have an opinion, oh ancient Elvhen god, I'd love to hear it. Tell me how we're supposed to fight off the Blights without Wardens, who can match a Dark Span blow for blow.
@extrahachse31183 жыл бұрын
@@spiderlily7058 Why was it supposed to be the Right one? Because Solas hates them? Solas has been wrong several times. Exiling them is an option because they fucked up Big Time and kinda deserve consequences. But keeping them is just as valid. And lets be honest. When you have even brilliant people like Loghain Doubt their necessity , it’s no suprise other People would think the same despite the evidence. Doesnt help that a lot about them is a Mystery including the fact that only they can Slay an arch demon.
@spiderlily70583 жыл бұрын
@@extrahachse3118 I'm not saying it is, only that it felt like the game tried to sway you. Solas, Vivienne, Sera, and I think Cassandra (I could be wrong there) all act as if the Warden's time is over.
