Yep, more returns in the last 6 months than the last 6 years combined, and I don't do clothes, so I should be getting near zero. Also more scam return switcheroos (buying a new one sending back a used one that wasn't mine etc) I've switched to Mercari. I get more sales there anyway. You can import all your listings with their tool and there's no fees. When I switched I sold tons of stuff in the first 24 hours that I've had on ebay for a year or more.

2 things - DO NOT offer free returns. Change your eBay settings to buyer pays return shipping. Any return that is marked not as described, wrong item sent or damaged item will automatically through eBay will default to seller pays regardless. Basically you will pay for returns if it's your screw up, but you won't pay for buyer remorse returns (i.e. doesn't fit, wrong size, changed mind ect.) as these returns are usually based on buyers not knowing what their size is, not knowing what the exactly want and so on. You should not pay for buyer mistakes. 2- Place a restocking fee on all buyer remorse returns and state that in your description (i use a 15% restocking fee). On the refund screen you have the option on whether or not you want to utilize that restocking fee deduction. There may be some buyers that are repeat buyers who never return an item or perhaps the measurement photos weren't up to your standards and you will want to issue a full refund to those buyers and you control that. Now some will say you can't do that and that eBay won't honor it. This is false. If a package is received tried on and then returned it is an opened and used product and will have to go through a process of inspection, recleaning and relisting, which eBay will honor a deduction on. Now some will tell you that taking off free returns or placing a restocking fee will result in loss of sales. In my years of selling on eBay I have not found this to be true, but it also doesn't cut down as much on your amount of returns. What it does do is it saves you from paying for someone else's mistakes and utilizing your store as a dressing room basically. You are right you will get the item back and you will be able to resell it, but you should not donate your time and shipping materials to a buyer who makes a spontaneous purchase without checking all of the information provided, asking any questions and making an informed decision prior to purchase. From what I've seen you are organized, honest and meticulous in your listings / items, to me this checks all of the boxes for a good eBay seller. Also keep in mind every return affects your seller stats and to many returns will result in the loss of your top seller status. So any loss of a sales, due to these changes, is more than likely someone who wasn't confident in their purchase to begin with. If you are confident in your product as well as your listings then there is no reason you should be out of pocket nor lose your top seller status for any buyer not willing to do their part.

Dude I've been selling on ebay for 13 years now, it's turned into complete shit, the fees are ridiculous, and they don't support sellers, only the buyer, I sold a 400 dollar fishing reel, the guy used it for 28 days and broke it, filed a return claim. I refused to take it back. Ebay gave his money back and let him keep the reel, I tried everything I could to appeal the case, f ebay, people over work the system

Returns are not due to your lack of info. Amazon and large corps made this a trend and it’s easy for them to write it off. Not so easy for the small guy.
