Maurice Markovitz had a brother, Max. They established a business between them prior to WW1. When the war came Max volunteered, he never returned.

@colinb5415 All wars are terrible but the first world war especially as many communities/familys lost a whole generation in that war. Thank you for your comments always appreciated.

I did not visit any pubs so cannot put down my own experience but there were plenty of tourists in some of the pubs I passed. Thanks for the comment.

There’s a very similar story from medieval France, the dog was venerated as St. Guinefort and the Church sent an Inquisitor to stamp out the cult, with only middling success. Another lovely video!

There is no bus service, only the railway that runs between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog.
