@mechanicaldesignB

@@jim_mai Yes, the phrase 'going balls out' is indeed thought to originate from the governor mechanism used in steam engines, where the rotating balls move outwards to regulate speed.

There are governors on wind up phonographs. I fix them and I just called to see how the mechanisms work, time and time after again.
@mechanicaldesignB
@mechanicaldesignB 4 күн бұрын
@@GeorgeTheGentleman That's interesting! The principle behind governors in wind-up phonographs is similar to the mechanical governor in engines-they both control speed to ensure smooth operation.
@danielmyers143
@danielmyers143 4 күн бұрын
The angular velocities of the two spindles are the same. The velocity of the perimeter of the larger disc is simply faster as with any turning circle. Think of an old 33 rpm phonograph record. The outer edge is moving faster than the inner edge but both are travelling at 33 revolutions per minute.

The 3D view should show the ring gear rotating with the carrier. When this type of differential is made with billet or forged worm/spur gears, it’s actually the best differential there is. It is the only type that can be used front, rear and center without affecting steering detrimentally. Unfortunately making them correctly is expensive so manufacturers cut corners (powered metal) which can be disastrous.

*All practical tests show that small wind turbines hardly generate any electricity! Because there is hardly any wind close to the ground.* It is also extremely gusty, which usually shortens the service life extremely! 9 out of 10 systems no longer work after a few years. *Due to the extreme drop in the price of solar panels, they produce at approx. 2% to 5% of the cost of small wind turbines!* Reliable and almost maintenance-free for 25+ years!

how is the cutter connected with the lever? because the lever has a swivel motion, the cutter just moves vertically. so how is it connected?
