Creio estar a referir-se à bandeira municipal criada em 1917, sofrendo alterações desde então, porém a bandeira do Estado de São Paulo não é templária, é maçónica. Aquelas estrelas de cinco pontas nunca foram um símbolo templário. O primeiro estandarte de São Paulo foi, sim, puramente de origem templária.

@@peficaro É um outro Dom João de Castro, daí a confusão, não é aquele a que Camões se refere de como 'Castro Forte'; inicialmente também me deu um nó na cabeça na altura. O retrato está contemporaneamente identificado com o nome 'Cavaleiro da Cruz' (c.1600), sem nunca o autor identificar mais especificamente a identidade para além deste pseudónimo. Ainda não recebi qualquer mensagem, responderei prontamente quando chegar.

Mas se a referida pintura é a que ilustra este seu vídeo, estou esclarecido (e grato tb a respeito dos Castros. D. Álvaro era de facto mt próximo de D. Sebastião daí que julguei que a Sra tivesse trocado o pai pelo filho.

A Rhodesian ex-soldier who was with Portuguese soldiers in Tete Province (Mozambique) during joint patrols against Frelimo/Zanla insurgents (1971/72) desctibes Portuguese as being “ casual with their G3’s across their shouders held by the barrel, who would immediatly charge forward shouting abuse at the enemy as soon as contact was made “ He also stated that Rhodesians felt comfortable working with the Portuguese. In the book “The Rhodesian War” the author also claims that to most Rhodesians “ there was nothing wrong with the Portuguese fighting spirit .” Ron Reid Daly founder of the famous Selous Scouts in his book states that in April 1974, the Portuguese were far from loosing the war. Finally, Breytenbach, founder of Three Two Batallion, expresses his real admiration for his Portuguese troopies when they joined him in his Angolan 1977 adventure known as Bravo Group. Sadly most were killed in that adventure. One was a man from Tras os Montes. He was awarded the highest South African cross of honour for his courage during the battle of Bridge 14, when he single handed “dispached” a few Cubans and Faplas to Heaven. His name: Daniel Roxo.

Without Bartolomeo Dias , Vasco de Gama will be nothing, he found a route to India , he never all the way due to exhaustion or whatever reason , he laid the very foundation and early discovery of a seas route to india.

Just like Bartolomeu Dias couldn't have reached the cape without the work of his predecessors either. The whole thing was a collective effort, don't turn it into a competition between people who worked for it TOGETHER.

@@SylvaHodracyrda I think merits should be given to those who deserved it , and I think Vasco de gama basically just sits on his ship all waythe thru india. the point here is Bartholomeo Dias found the cape of good hope(mossel bay) and Covilha went to india for reconnaissance mission thru the red sea and arabian peninsula way before Vasco de gama .
