Good day, I was wondering where did you purchase that? Or did you put levers on the lyre yourself...?🤔

That's is so awesome. I have a shofar rams horn, not sure I want to do this with it but will definitely be on the lookout for another horn to try this. Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Great stuff. Would it be possible to make a nice piece of lithuainian pine into a flute? Also, any recommendations when it comes to flute music?

phenomenal sound! great job! After training on the lathe this Thursday, I hollowed out a prototype on a lathe for practice. It was only 8 inches long so I don't know if it's playable. That's actually why I'm here today, searching for a video of a solid body mini flute, if it's possible. I used a 3/4" drill bit from both ends. OD is about 1"1/8 but it's just a practice anyway for my long oak piece I hope to turn into a flute just like this! or one from Blue Bear Flutes. I'm interested how you do it and how you choose the diameter of the hole as compared to the outer diameter of the flute, after you've lathed it.

Hi... Love your work. How did you know the exact length of the flute; and where to put the finger holes and their sizes...!? Thank you. Best ... William (Southampton UK)

Hi there, this is made in a minor scale, so you can only play minor songs with this particular instrument.

I have an alto and a tenor gemshorn in real horn, and both have a noticeable buzz in the sound. Yours sounds sweet and clear, anything I should look at to help fix the buzzing?

Great video, very informative. I would have thought the placing of the fingerholes was much more mathematical, but it's just "kinda pick out the middle of the horn" and the fingers "about an inch spaced apart" (and then of course some microtuning).
@calebbyerly9 ай бұрын
Yup, for the most part. And each horn is different, so that plays a big role too.

I loved learning all the issues that can come up with tuning these types of instruments. I had no idea about micro-tuning! I couldn't figure out why my instrument wouldn't tune correctly. It was because I didn't know how to micro-tune.

Hello bro, your work is great, ask, is the goat horn mandatory? could it be cow? Do you have or know of any historical finds of the instrument, I want to make one for my historical recreation group.
@calebbyerly9 ай бұрын
The Bukkehorn is traditionally a goat horn, however they have been made of cow horns. I've made some from a cow horn before and it works. Different sound but it can be tuned in the same scale. There are a few resources online if you search Bukkehorn history.

This have been common in both Sweden and Finland as well. It is not an Norwegian instrument. Both Cowhorns and Goathorns have been played all over Scandinavia/Finland. Very nice example of a Bukkehorn. Greate work!
