Damn you're right. For my tastes, I thought it was actually a harder sound when you had the backups off or at least way down, and then threw a healthy scoop of that heavier space you put on it. Honestly if I was producing for homie, I might try and convince him to maybe consider going that route with the album, and keep it raw. It definitely stands out as more unique, and give that kinda "polished up/yet still underground" feel. That's what the early local fans gonna connect with more than trying to make it sound super "industry". That sound can always come later after jump off.
@EricJohnson-fh8zjАй бұрын
But yo since you got the PA bundle, if you aint checked out the TOMO LISA on the masters...you should check that out. Its got a bit of a learning curve, but man it's worth it. Really does add something when u activate dynamic mode and get it set right. 👍 Just figured since you shared your secret weapon with us, I guess I'll share one back lol ✌️
@shaferproducergodАй бұрын
Bro funny enough I wanted the highlights to be quieter but thats how he requested it to be mixed and you gotta always shoot for what the artist wants because at the end of the day its their music
@EricJohnson-fh8zjАй бұрын
@shaferproducergod Right on. At least you heard it too and voiced your notions about it. Good producers and engineers listen to what the artist is going for. Just like a good artist respects the oppinions/advice of the producer & engineer. Teamwork makes the dream work Lol. Corny as hell but stays the truth. 😆👍

Yeah thats normal. clipping has some downfalls its sort if a last resort trick for me tbh. Make sure you are making room for the 808 by high passing other elements in the mix! Or try a different 808

Nobody likes quiet beats though you can always take it off and re send it
@shaferproducergod2 ай бұрын
You can make beats loud af with a little saturation and still keep your transients in tact. I never said the beat had to be quiet just not clipped into oblivion lol you can also get away w a little limiting just dont do too much. Clipping will also rob you of punch people would much rather the 808s hit than sound flat af. Dont get me wrong Its a stylistic choice and some genres call for that blown out sound. I just dont recommend doing it all willy nilly on every beat

The EQ should actually be placed before the compressor, the dynamics that you have achieved with the Compressor after a long period of fine-tuning are nullified by EQing after the Compressor.
@shaferproducergod3 ай бұрын
Thats not necessarily true. Eqing before compression effects how the compressor reacts so its really up to what kind of effect you are trying to achieve. I compress vocals on the way in with analog so im used to eqing in the box post compression. I encourage you to try both ways to see what fits your sound and style! Everything gets compressed again in mastering so the order of effects gets more minimized the further in the process you go
