Etsy made some changes that have made it impossible for me as a seller to reply to my customer’s message with a photo. I have been unable to get through an unimpenetrable wall the mirage that is their “customer support”, so I made this video for a customer. I do a lot of custom orders, which require me to be able to respond to my customers with photographs. This is one of the many reasons i am opening my own shop on doodlepunkart.com - perhaps at some point I will make a video about etsy, but at this point, I just want to provide my customer with good service. This video is an example of how the workflow of custom orders should flow. I think video is better than photographs anyway for three dimensional art. Cheers! 🙂

Sorry, but they are dirty because I am literally in the middle of working and I decided to shoot a video. I work every day with carbon and oxides, I use my nails as tools, I have multiple medical conditions that affect my nails and skin, plus I have onycholysis. I am attempting to allow my nails to heal. Trimming any further will leave more raw nail bed exposed. I do my best to clean them with a surgeon’s brush at the end of my work session. Either I don’t make videos, or make them as I am realistically, and hope that people can look past my fingernails and skin and be inspired and empowered to do something creative.

Thank you for teaching us. Do you know what is the thickness of the wire? The collection of earrings at the end of the video is beautiful!💮🌻
@doodlepunkart
@doodlepunkart Ай бұрын
Thank you so much. The thickness of those head pins are about 20 gauge, I think. I recommend anything between 22 and 20 gauge. When I make them myself, I like 21 gauge for most drop earrings. If it’s a very short little drop, 22 gauge will work too. And if it’s going to be longer, you will want to use 20. Let me know if you have any more questions. :-)

@@doodlepunkart thank you for letting me know. I used thinner silver eye pins that didn't work well, so I will try 20-22 gauge.

@@Michal-ke6lu save those thin ones for working with very small crystals. You could use 20 gauge wire, make an eye pin like I show in this video, put on a larger bead, then make another eye on the other end. One of those eyes could hang from the ear wire and on the other, you could hang three of those mini head pins with mini crystals. :)

@@doodlepunkart Defiantly, they are sterling silver, so I keep them, but its a very soft metal and thin. Thank you, I will practice tomorrow and watch the video again!

You can also work harden the metal so it isn’t so bendy. One way is to hammer it very gently with a nylon hammer. Another way is to swipe it with nylon pliers. Or with your fingers. I will make a quick video.

Very nice. Thank you. What grit sandpaper do you use?
@doodlepunkart
@doodlepunkart 9 ай бұрын
Hi. Sorry for the delay in my response. I’m getting everything set up in my studio so I can work on my KZbin channel regularly. I used 200 grit in this video, which i got at Napa autoparts. then when I finish everything at the end, I like the sanding sponges from riogrande.com The sponges are good way to get nice, smooth, rounded edges. I think they have a variety pack if you just want to get samples of each grit instead of buying a whole pack of each grit. I start with the Corser grit, and then I work my way down to the finest grit, which is the one with the green printing on the back. I can’t remember what it’s called right now but if you are interested in purchasing that, let me know and I will post a link. Also, in the next video that I make where I use any sandpaper, I will make sure to explain what I’m using and tell where you can get it. I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you, Vanessa. I appreciate the feedback. I will work on it. :) In the meantime, you can slow the video down by clicking the gear ⚙️ in the upper right corner, then click where it says, “playback speed”, and select x25 or x50. Also, be sure to turn the volume down all the way because the music in slow motion will be really annoying. Sorry about the problems.

What is the gauge of the wire?
@doodlepunkart
@doodlepunkart 9 ай бұрын
Hi. I used 20 gauge wire. 21 gauge wire will work as well though you might want to hammer it a little extra with a nylon hammer, just to make sure that the metal is hardened enough, so it won’t bend.

Thank you so much for your input. I have been considering purchasing some kind of setup to help me make videos because I have taken all my videos on both of my channels by propping up my iPad, which is very awkward and impractical. I think, based on your feedback I can justify the expense. 🤗 sorry u were frustrated.

Hi. Sorry I am not sure which pendant you are referring to. The ones with the loopity loops is 18 gauge. The other ones it ranges from 20-21. My half round is usually 20 gauge and my weaving is usually 26 though I also use 22, 24 and 28. I will be making tutorials this year.
