SFC Taniguchi was my JROTC instructor. A really down-to-earth guy and is someone who pushes others to be the best versions of themselves-truly an inspiration to be around. Thank you for shaping me into the person that I am today sergeant!

That's my sister's son. I'm familiar with PTSD; I grew up with it. A very dysfunctional family on my sister, Karen's, side. Familial PTSD can break up close relationships within families too. Such a waste when egos/secrets/unresolved conflicts take tolls. Among countries, cities, families. We’re not equipped psychologically to deal with each other. Technologically we’re geniuses, socially: still in the jungle/caves. We cannot believe that we are not the best: the best religion, the best country, the best citizen, the best athlete, the best sibling. It’s beyond our capabilities. Myself very much included in this human craziness. We are successful……”Look, Ma. No hands!!!!” Yet, yet, why………so unfilled, so empty??

Your biggest SUPER POWER is that there is only ONE of YOU!!! No one else can be you, have your exact body, your personality, your smile, etc. There is beauty in everyone and in the diversity that we have to offer…. and to our physically wounded Veterans - you know you have just become another version of super human! We advocate for all of you bad asses out there. Always strive to be the version of yourself that makes YOU proud, whatever that looks like, and if you are struggling with body image just remember you aren’t alone and we have only one life - don’t spend this life hating the only bag of bones that we are issued. Love it, make it strong, and be a bad ass MF’er while you’re still earth side.

Like the comments on thanking for service. Having served in Iraq during similar periods of time, I found that many civilians didn’t fully support the war but they supported the troops. It felt almost overwhelming but in hindsight I’m glad we saw the support we did.
