I’m very titled towards getting a staccato c or a p for my next gun.. so much so that I’ve already talked it over with my wife. But, before any big purchase I try to do research on it for atleast a month or two to find all the good and the bad. With that being said… the price of the platy is obviously better .. but! I really want to know .. is the platypus just as good as the staccato .. or is there a difference? I’m the type of person who will edc it and shoot atleast 10k rounds in a year. But I want an honest opinion from someone who owns both. And also… how good is the warranty on a platypus and how well do they honor that warranty.

The left leaf on the sear spring needs a slight adjustment to bring trigger pull weight up. Since you found the grip screw’s marred is a good indication that guns sear spring was adjusted by previous owner. I have purchased 3 new Le Baers and trigger pull weight was around 4#.

Beautiful gun, I picked up one of these in 9mm about a month ago. Added some slim grips and the bulletproof Wilson combat extended slide release so far. I’m looking forward to messing around with the trigger and possibly converting it to a 70 series as well. Also love the rams horn grips they really make it pop!

So just to add my two cents from experience, all I shoot are 1911s and 2011s, both competition and carry, they need time to break in. by the way all my 1911/2011s are Springfield. You need to give them time to break in, especially mass produced guns like a Springfield. The manufacturer isn’t doing this for you, that’s one of the reasons why it doesn’t cost $3k+. My emissary had failures to fully go into battery for about the first 500, my prodigy same thing. For the first 500 rounds I always lube them liberally, and clean them often., and after that 500 break in, no failures, NONE. Honestly this is pretty normal I find for a Springfield, because out of the box they are tight, parts need time to wear in together. But after a break in all of my Springfields run smooth as hell, no problems. I shoot around 5k rounds a year in competition.
@iamnitroxАй бұрын
@denniswerner1670 this one is fixed as of now. I did a little relieving on the slide where the disconnector hung up the slide. It runs fine now. It's the same issue that some of the gen 1 prodigy pistols had.

When you went from series 80 to 70 did you put in a lightweight firing pin and heavier spring? Bill Wilson has made the comment that barrel lockup and bushing fit is more important than the slide being tight for accuracy. Thank you for the review, I'm getting the itch for another 1911 and I'm leaning to this because I would only need to add the ambi safety due to being wrong handed and possibly sights. the combat commander looks like a sweet spot for features and price for what I want in a 1911 without going to a custom builder.
@iamnitroxАй бұрын
Didn't change anything other than the TJ's spacer. Everything from the 80 will go to 70, such as the firing pin, the slide, hammer, and firing pin stop (As well as the grip safety), but almost nothing will go the opposite way.
@jeffhudson2346Ай бұрын
@iamnitrox you might want to try a lightweight firing pin and heavy pin spring since you got rid of the pin block to minimize an accidental discharge if you happened to drop it.
@iamnitroxАй бұрын
@jeffhudson2346 I have the heavy spring installed. Strangely, the firing pin might be one of the only stock parts still left. I've been thinking of the titanium one. Do they light primers well with the lightweight hammer?
