Great idea as an underquilt protector. I just bought this to replace my frogg toggs jacket because it's so hot. Poncho just seems so much more versatile than a jacket

Hell of a setup! May you please show/direct me to watch/explain how to connect the shock cord and the Z-line together for the door tie-outs? I've seen other videos using shock cord, I've seen other "door mods", but never an in-depth/closer look at the knots/lines/ties, for making "hybrid" tie-outs.
@AquaTech2253 жыл бұрын
Would like to see this also. Hopefully your comment is seen an this one an get can throw something together for us
@92Pyromaniac Жыл бұрын
You mean guy lines with a shock cord tensioner? Shug has a tutorial in one of his videos. Basically you just create two clove hitches in the line and poke each end of the shock cord through. Doesn't seem like it would hold, but it does. For extra security you can put an overhand knot in the ends of the shock cord but it isn't essential

Thank you very much for a great video. I am new to hammock camping and have been using a continuous ridgeline and really do not like the sag. I plan to reconfigure my tarp using your setup. Thanks Again

Nice job on the video Ron! I really like the FG knot, been using it for years now. As you said... a little tougher to tie but if you practice tying it and all your other knots outside in the wind (not on the couch) you'll eliminate lots of aggravation out on the water.
@FloridaWild6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. I really like the FG knot. It rides through the grass better, without snagging as much. I just haven't put enough time into tying it, so it's not one I can do quickly.

That's a pretty ambitious build on a 4x8 frame, but I like it. I've been looking at those same windows you're using, as teardrop windows and doors, are ridiculously priced. Can't see spending half my build budget, just on a door and a couple windows. i'm going to attempt to build my own door. Keeping mine simple. No back kitchen. Just a few cabinets, Vent fan, A/C and stereo, on the inside. Awning and roof rack, on the outside, for hauling my kayak. After all, it's camping, right? LOL

Yeah our goal here was just to provide something better than a tent for my son and I to escape the elements ans sleep comfortably on our overnighters. I thought it would only take me a few weekends. LOL. Here I am almost 7 months later. Pretty soon though!!

If I attempted this project, I would have been lucky to do it in 8 days and several trips per day to my local Ace Store and ER. Can't wait to see your progression!

I've been caught out for several hours at night fishing @ Tarpon Key. Also never underestimate the tidal flow. I was once nearly unable to get back inside coffee pot bayou because of the outflow as a big thunder Boomer ran me down. I spent a good hour or two under the coffee pot bridge.

Mr. Miyagi said that the best way to not get hit is to "not be there." This is how I avoid being hit by lightning. You can be hit by lightning from a storm you can't even ee in the sky, no fishing trip is worth that. If lightning killed everyone that it hit, I wouldn't worry, but having to have someone care for me for the rest of my life terrifies me. If I see a flash or even hear a slight rumble, I'm out. I'm crazy, not stupid.

Ron, thanks for the video. I found it helpful and informative. Just curious, where do you store the fish you catch (ex: stringer, cooler, cooler bag)?
@FloridaWild8 жыл бұрын
+synergy90t I very rarely keep fish. I'm the only one in my house who would eat it. When I have kept a fish, I usually just throw it down in the hull of the boat. It's fine if only for a couple hours.

I made the milk crate lid myself, out of a piece of lexan. You could use plexiglass and paint it black. Just don't use metal hinges. I learned that quick. They rusted out in a couple months. I use zip ties for hinges now.
