I'm trying to figure out why a store would sell a 1996-97 Score pack for $8 when there's nothing really good in that set and the only reason I can think of is that they're ripping people off.
@excoachwolf3 сағат бұрын
Like everything else, supply and demand. Probably a $1 pack in Canada but after the $7 American tariff Tom had to pay $8 (not the Canadian seller) because that is how tariffs work lol.The Canadian seller still gets their $1 and the American (me in this case) gets slammed with 100% of the cost of the 700% American tariff. Kinda sucks!
@excoachwolf2 сағат бұрын
Now here is the real kicker. An American card store was selling these packs for $2 but now that there is a $7 tariff they decided to raise their price per pack to $8 so that they can get an extra $6 out of me. Either way the American tariff causes ME (the American buyer) to get screwed!

A Jordan for a nickel, a Hakeem for a nickel, plus, got my buddy Dale Davis in there too, so I’d say that ‘92 pack wins by a mile, no matter how many autograph cards came in that $35 pack (unless that Magic would’ve been signed)

Jeremy Inginla makes another appearance with yet a different pronunciation! Last time, I think he was Ya-ro-may. I remember buying this as a complete set at a card show soon after its release because I wanted to make sure that I had at least 1 Crosby and 1 Ovechkin rookie because I wasn't going to pay crazy prices for their Young Guns cards. If I remember correctly, the set cost me $100.

I did. Very weird but heck what isn't weird as sh%t anymore. Every day everything gets weirder. I miss 80s and 90s normalcy!
@montrealsports297 күн бұрын
@@excoachwolf It's because Panini still has an exclusive license, but Fanatics/Topps will have that exclusive license soon (I think for next season or the season after that). You miss the early '80s normalcy when Topps made football cards without an NFL license?

I really miss c- air brushing and sets where the most valuable card was worth maybe 20 cents. Collecting for fun versus collecting for money.

As for normalcy I miss when US presidents viewed Canadians as our friends and not as a transaction or "deal". Toronto is one of my all time favorite cities. Down in Florida where I have a condo I am surrounded by Canadian neighbors who are ALL salt of the earth people and deserve better than bullying 51st state rhetoric, IMHO.

This was the Collectors Choice You Crash the Game redemption cards. Silver or Gold. One of those 30 players had a date on it. If that player scored a TD you mailed that card in for one of these sets. All the companies of the era had all kinds of redemptions. My silver set, no idea why I remember this 29-30 years later, was redeemed from the John Elway Nov 12 game. Millions of collectors stored these for all these years thinking they’d have the value of sealed pre 1980s packs. Including myself. So these aren’t rare at all and don’t feel guilty for opening this stuff if you want. I opened a lot of the basketball ones over the last 3-5 years.

Was he one of the last players to go straight from high school to the NBA? Not that that is an excuse but he must have been pretty immature when he entered the league. Probably took a lot of verbal abuse from the more established players. Probably maybe.

True dat although he is 3rd all time in NBA scoring. He deserves more credit and love for his accomplishments IMHO.
@ohdontchaknow12 күн бұрын
@excoachwolf I tend to agree, but he never got the big prize and will continue to fall down the all-time scoring list as time goes on. He'll eventually be irrelevant to most collectors. That being said, I was a huge Bulls fan in the 90s. My friend and I used to bite John Stockton and Karl Malone cards when we pulled them because we hated the Jazz so much, LMAO... Wish I still had the Stocktons.. he has two major all-time stat records that will likely remain for the next couple decades, if not for the eternity of the NBA
