It’s not good. Before restoration was better. It was like hand of time touched this bayo and it was in it own blueing and natural rust.

I did as my client requested
@PreservingTheHistory11 күн бұрын
And just for the record, if you watched the entire video you could notice that this bayonet wasn't blued, and if it was it is nearly impossible to get it off with the tools I'm using. Also this hand of time you talked about, this bayonet was still in perfect condition a year ago but because the client moved to a new home she left it in a closet in her shed outside so it went from good to bad in just one year time. And a friendly tip, I use Cold Bluing which you can take off again using only 0000 very fine wool.

Thnx!, the items showed in my video's aren't mine. I do al lot of work for fellow collectors. My own collection was already preserved long before I decided to start a KZbin channel 😂. I am happy to have finally found someone who also uses correct methods in preserving artifacts. So many people destroy these items through so called "restoring" them using destructive methods, not caring about their original finish. Greetings from South Africa.

Hembrug is not a nickname. It was the location of the Artillerie Inrichting (right next to the bridge. The location still exists albeit no longer as a weapons and ammunition factory.
@PreservingTheHistoryАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment but I have to disagree on this one. Yes it is a location (railway bridge) but it is not the official name of the factory nor the rifle and bayonet itself. It is therefor a nickname for the rifle/bayonet referring to the bridge near the factory. You should rather expect them to place their own manufacturers name AI (like they uses on their bullet casings) or Artillerie Inrichtingen like many other manufacturers like WKC or Waffenfabrik Neuhausen or even the name of the designer like (Alfred von) Kropatschek.
@motorinstructeurАй бұрын
@PreservingTheHistory Still, it is not a nickname but rather a Trademark. They also made lathes and other machinery. I lived about 1 click from the Hembrug. Had familie werking there and had the pleasure of restoring and shooting the Hembrug Carbine as well as the rifle . They took the Mannlicher license and ran with it. It actually handles quite well. So no. Not a nickname. Ask any "Zaankanter" or anyone whom worked there. 😉
@PreservingTheHistoryАй бұрын
@@motorinstructeur Then it was my mistake to call it a nickname. Trademark it is then. As you might guess I'm not English I'm just as a kaaskop as you are ;) only from a different part of the country with more family ties to the bombardment of Rotterdam ;)

@PreservingTheHistory I'm from Rotjeknor as well. Mother got bombed out of Rotterdam in May 1940. (Lange toren straat) I wound up in Zaanstad in the 90's but live in Germany now. A stones throw from the Siegfried Line🤣

@PreservingTheHistoryАй бұрын
Thank you! It is really what the collectors wish is. Personally I dont mind, Cold Bluing comes off just as easy as you put it on with 0000 wool. If you decide to sell at some point you can take the bluing off.

I have considered that many times but the thing is, I sit in my attic mancave with no doors and I have a noisy home. So unless you want to hear my wife chatting on the phone or enjoying every episode of Friends on the background I see no other way haha. And no sound at all is so...silent :)

I noticed that the blade appears slightly bent/out of alignment. The excellent cleaning job also reveals a visible weld job about an inch forward of the guard. Great video and to the point.

First off the way to spell bayonet in spanish is bayoneta, not bajoneta which would mean a steep descend!
@PreservingTheHistory2 ай бұрын
Thank you for pointing it out, it is obvious i'm not spanish ;) I had it right in the thumbnail and thanks to you I corrected the title, but the subs I cannot change without removing this video. I hope people will understand it is about the bayonet and not about a steep descent.

@@PreservingTheHistory . Well I was once in Spain in the Pyrenees, and there was this road going down the hills. The bicycle lost the brakes and boy oh boy what a bajoneta that was. Funny thing was all the basque had been warning us that there was a bajoneta coming up....
