Thanks for the like. I recommend “The Body Keeps The Score” to clients daily and just can’t thank you enough for the creation it is as an audio book. Definitely a good idea for people who are thinking this is what they want to do for a living. For me? I'm an artist and writer, primarily, so I was thinking I could just add this in as a side thing for some extra cash. And when I'm in the zone, reading something and focusing on my voice and what I hear and see in the book, the rest of the world is pretty-well gone. I actually spent a couple years recording videos and then editing them, so I know I can do what I want to do with this. I was hoping for a little more direction on how to get started. Guess I'll try contacting you on FB, like you say.

HI Sean, I was on Audible because they have a 2 for 1 sale, so I thought I'd take advantage of it. As I was going through all the books I was interested in, I noticed that about 80-85% of them were narrated by men-at least for the business and the Great Courses. I found it really disheartening. I was curious, do you find you get more men asking to work with you than women? Do you think it may have to do with the number of men vs women in the industry? And/or that men are selected because culturally, they are more credible than women in those 2 categories (or even more categories)? This revelation made me go down a rabbit hole to look at how to become a audiobook reader (I used to do commercial voiceovers). Would love your insights.

A great narrator can make or break an audiobook. I'm a trucker so I've listened to about a thousand of them during my 21 years behind the wheel. There have been some pretty good ones but none that were good enough that I wanted to go find other books that they narrated, until now. I've been listening to a series called Expeditionary Force, narrated by R.C. Bray. Bray is absolutely hitting it out of the park, best narration I have ever heard. I will definitely be looking for other books done by him when I finish this series, which BTW is hilarious. If you love Sci-Fi and you have a good sense of humor, this series is for you.

Thank you so much! What you're saying sounds obvious but it's funny that it wasn't one of the first things I should have done to determine if narrating books is a good fit for me. It does sound like it suits personalities which are naturally solitary.

Soooooo its been 8 days so far doing this for a group that I am practicing my narration with. Its really fun when you get to pace yourself and let the words flow out. I already own a business but narrating and voice acting have always been something that I have always wanted to attempt, and I really enjoy that the work is done by myself. Where can I find that tool that you had the book resting on called again? I would like to order one. Also looking into working with ACX and I wanted to ask you about your opinion on that as well!

I'm going to give myself this test. No idea how I'll do but I do like the idea of being in a cozy space reading aloud from a book. I don't know if I have the right kind of voice though. It's low but a tiny bit gravel-y-ish. I'm not a loud person naturally. Either way, I'll give this a go and see if it's something I enjoy and want to approach the next step. Great vid!

I've listened to lots and lots of audio books. I'm currently listening to "Fall and Rise". Sean is the best narrator I've ever listened to. I don't know how you do it Sean but you captured every nuance and emotion. The way you delivered that line in the chapter about flight 93, "they were done taking orders from anyone" made it one I'll always remember. I've tried to describe it to others, but I can't come close to your narration. Excellent job!! Thank you!

We have a place where you narrate as a volunteer and I have an audition for that. You narrate newspapers, magazines, and books for blind people. My parents live up the street and have a soundproof room, so I’m getting there. I’ve been working at a call center and people keep saying I should narrate audiobooks and my nephew loves the videos I made him of me reading him books and I’m his favorite show. My parents have been saying I should narrate audiobooks. I looked into it and KZbinrs said it was easy and you could record on your iPhone and make $100/hour on ACC and then I looked into it and there’s a lot more that goes into it.
