Hey TheLanguageBro, I would like to ask how do you approach learning and practicing pronunciation of a foreign language? Your English pronunciation is pretty neat and I would like to improve mine :)
@TheLanguageBro23 сағат бұрын
I approach learning and pronunciation by repeating it until I perfect it, at least it’s a principle I developed for myself. When learning any foreign language, the pronunciation comes naturally to me because I’m good at switching accents. I’ve developed this talent from already knowing many languages from a young age, such as Russian, Hebrew, and English. When I started to learn and speak Spanish, I sounded like a native speaker, and when I speak German, I sound German, even though they’re not native languages of mine. My English pronunciation is neat because I grew up in the USA for 10 years, so initially, it was bad, but I repeated it until I perfected it, which is where I am now. To improve pronunciation, I’d highly advise listening to yourself from a different side, so you know how your pronunciation sounds like to others. Breaking down words and speaking to yourself slowly also helps. It’s important to understand the emphasis of pronounced words, especially with an accent. You can develop one and stick with it, but again, the most practical recommendation is to first speak in a foreign language and then perfect it. Record yourself speaking to identify your pronunciation flaws, read aloud, and learn to listen. Your topic is very interesting that I can make a video about it in the future. Still, thank you for your input!

is this for spanish in general or a specific dialect?
@heironic85476 күн бұрын
"because it sounds bad" isnt a reason.... the reason that English has two methods is because saying -er suffix is a germanic constructions whereas more/most is influenced by latin construction. And thus, you can't put words of latin origin like "expensive" with a germanic suffix and vice versa "small"

@heironic85478 күн бұрын
Very informative. Although you tend to just say "it just sounds bad" as a reason. That's not clear and doesn't make sense. Do some research on how and why Spanish does this, the method is because of changes in stress from empezár to empiézo and that's why emezámos and empezáis dont follow this. But the real reason is because the original Latin vowel system which had short and long vowels.

I got a question. No offense, If a person can understand what you are saying in English,he/she doesn't have to learn,does he? Btw , Let's pray for German as I been thinking of learning it
@TheLanguageBro8 күн бұрын
Absolutely. Someone who already knows English doesn't have to learn it again. But, some have asked me to present English grammar as a way to "refresh" how we speak in English. Although we speak it, we still tend to make mistakes in conversations. The concept of "refreshing" our English capacity can be viewed as "relearning" English again. That's why I continue with it. And yes, German will immediately be after English.

Can you explain why you would say "La fiesta fue en el club" instead of "La fiesta estuve en el club"? I'd expect sstar to be used since it refers to location. And thank you for the tips!
@TheLanguageBro15 күн бұрын
In "La fiesta fue en el club," ser is used because it describes WHERE the event took place, NOT a physical location in the same way you'd describe an object/person. This rule applies to events. In the same manner, I can say "Los invitados estaban en el club" and use estar, referring to the location of the guests (people) rather than an event. Ser is used for the location of events and estar is used for physical or locational states of objects or people.

This is filling so many gaps for me. I learned the Spanish I know from talking with my buddies in the Army. I never learned grammer or rules. Now, I am maybe 5 minutes into the lesson and things are falling in place and long held questions, I had, are being answered. Ex: Porque' and Porque I would ask Porque' and the response would start with a Porque...this made things even more confusing in my head. I did not know there was a difference between the two. They are two completely different words.

Hi friend! I was reviewing my russian with you, as I've studied some of them with you already, and it came across my mind that a PDF would be insanely good for those who understand but need to see it organized in a paper in order to see more clearly if it isn't missing anything from the lessos, as a resume.
@TheLanguageBro21 күн бұрын
Sadly, I deleted all the documents that I used for Russian, and I'm really sorry for that. Keeping PDFs is a very good that I should have done a while ago, but at least, it's possible to write what you hear in the video. As I'm doing English now, I won't be deleting anything, in case people would prefer the PDF version because I had it but didn't preserve it.

I have a question for those proficient in Spanish out there. I am trying to learn Spanish to go on an extended trip in Peru in a little over a year. I have taken two years of high-school Spanish but didn't retain much information at all. Would studying this video to memorization be enough to get me to a point where I can start becoming fluent in Peru? I hear that you need a base knowledge of the language in order for immersion to work, would this video be sufficient?
@primalknight21 күн бұрын
if somehow you can memorize all of this video, yes. otherwise, you can watch it and then refer back to it everytime you forgot something. try immersion as in reading watching etc in spanish along with learning from here, because while this is a lot of information, if you dont have the anchors to stop the ship, the knowledge is just going to sail away.
