Did this have steel needles? If so how were they changed? As gramophones of the time needed to steel needle changing after every play

The Akai AS-980 had the distinction of being widest receiver even surpassing the huge Sansui G-33000, not to mention all the Pioneer, Marantz, Technics, and Yamaha monster receivers. There were heavier, taller and bulkier receivers and certainly they were far more powerful but in the width dimension, this beauty 25.6 inches surpassed them all.

I have a 402 BRC in my basement. 1933. I was given it years ago by a guy who lost interest in refurbishment. Unfortunately, the amps and speaker are missing. It does have the turntable and changer..I'll give you a call. Cheers, Paul.

I loved these when I was a kid. Airport lounges often had them as well as arcades. Usually they were made by Bally or Williams.

I want an orchestrope so badly. I saw one on ebay for sale, but it was more or less in pieces and I'm sure would have cost a small fortune to restore it. What a true Treasure.

Beautiful. Sounds great. I have an F80 but wish it was a 120. I listen for at least a couple hrs a day so I'm always changing out records. Mine is original and sounds good. Still in great shape but I want to know what to change out and or upgrade to make it sound even better. It's 70 years old so I know it can sound better.

The biggest issue I can see here, is the price. I'd be impressed if they can get one of these out for under 10k, which may make this hard to compete with the current mini-full-size hybrid setups which have become popular on KZbin, of late, which can use full-sized off the shelf commercial pinsetter units.
