Now I just have to figure out how to add multiple materials like dirt and sand so I can paint the landscape. Yay

As a beginner solo developer I was always afraid I'd spend years just making LODs for my first game, I find this extremely relieving, now I can focus more on the actual gameplay systems and just adding more models to my project. Thank you for the very helpful video and Merry Christmas!

How familiar are you with PS2 era graphics? We don't have a lot of vids on YT documenting how to replicate that era. I look at games like Tekken Tag Tournament from 2000 and see interesting lighting that looks dynamic based on where you are in the environment and the angle so would be curious to see how they might have done that

Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much. What always gets me when I'm working with materials is the amount of processing power it needs nowadays for a single texture to be displayed "the best way". I mean... For static / slow videos and images I can see how all this processing usage can be rewarded. But in Game Development (that is my case), it's a constant concern.

If you are reading this: You found the right tutorial! Do it! I did it in Unreal 5.5 and everything worked like a charm. You won't find anything better. Everything was structured well, it was not just the game related lessons, but also the little things (Like clean up outliner, make comments, etc.) that are very useful. Dear creator: Thank you so much!

Hellooooo! Instead of typing the name of the level, we can simply add a "Get Level"-node, route the return value into a "GetObjectName"-node. Now, if we connect the sockets of the new return value to the socket "Level Name" belonging to the "Open Level"-node, a "Convert Sting to Name"-node is automatically placed inbetween. Now the respawn is working in the current level. No need to type.

I just want to know if I have to keep track of that. I’m afraid of releasing a game that somehow is successful, and Epic suing me for all I’m worth because I wasn’t on top of paying them. If it’s a royalty that’s automatically taken out then I’m fine with that.
@GameDevAcademy15 күн бұрын
You need to track your earnings for the tax man anyway so you can use the same records to make sure you know if you need to be paying Epic or not.

Great video, it works but I have a question, hope you can help me. I created a project with a blank template, and I migrated the first person blueprint from the unreal firstperson template, but when I change the game mode to "first person" the game mode does not recognize my player start and the camera starts falling down. How can I solve this? thanks.

Is the player start below the ground?
@fernandomantilla481916 күн бұрын
@@GameDevAcademy Hi, no it wasn't below the ground, I just recently solved the problem. It was because I deleted the default landscape and the new mesh I imported (that I was using for the floor) did not had collisions enabled. I enabled the floor collisions and the problem was fixed. Anyway, thanks for answering

I would love to see how he Nodes in Unity can be used to achieve this. they have loosely the same names, but the functions are quite different in many cases, and so you have to think differently about them.

Depends on the mesh and the UV mapping

@@GameDevAcademy Is there a way I can use an absolute world position node to set it to tile seamlessly in tandem with this? The project I'm working on uses custom texture i make in a program called union bytes so I dont think I can get them to tile seamlessly naturally.

Later versions of RenderDoc still work, it's an opt-in checkbox that you must enable in the settings before it appears. As for the Chrome PID, the MapsModelImporter Github lists an additional command to prevent Chrome from restarting: --disable_direct_composition=1 Just add that and you should be golden
