Wow. Mine's just been delivered this morning. Thanks for the advice Fritz. I live in thr UK but they are still quite expensive on ebay. I'm glad I bought it. Usually people express how BIG packs are. This is ideal if you need small & compact. It's so streamlined with a very tight profile. You're not going to get snagged on anything wearing this. Hopefully I'll be fast & mobile on the trails. I ❤️ the compartment for a water bladder. My 3 ltr source slides in with ease. 🇹🇼 🇬🇧

I'm sure you will be. I went trekking carrying 2.5 day supplies (without sleeping system) stuffed inside this pack and my webbing belt. We had to sneak through dense bamboo woods, and that's when the fun began comparing to those with bulky hiking packs.

Thanks for the video. It was helpful having a closeup of the inside if the compartments to get an idea of what the pack consists of. I've ordered one as a result of your video. I think it'll be the perfect small day pack for taking on holiday. I like how it can store a water bladder too.

Been using my backpack for about a year now. It's very well built and just the right size for what I need. My 2 complaints are that the straps have very little padding in them (designed to be worn over armor), and the zipper is hard to unzip(have to undo buckles on the sides) and hard to zip up(zipper gets stuck on the weatherproofing flap on the top). Still the best "assault" pack I've used so far. I personally like how it has no unnecessary tiny pockets all over it. It helps keep the design streamlined. Also Taiwan > China. Love your patch.
@hamnuptra
@hamnuptra Жыл бұрын
I guess the buckle undoing problem happens to all rucksacks with a big door flap secured with zipper? After all the straps can share the tension with zippers and can keep the door closed if zippers are damaged. BTW BIG thanks for your kind support, mate!

There's no mesh because it's meant to work if worn over a body armour/webbing rig which would tear the mesh to shreds.

Fritz could you do me a favor and tell me the measurements for how long the big side zips are? The ones that you use to strap it to a 90l bergen. I'm wondering If I can just buy a 17L Virtus and zip it to the back of my BA issue 45L bergen.
@hamnuptra
@hamnuptra Жыл бұрын
Hey my friend, it's 35cm. I've got a pair of 7.5L sidepouches for the 90L bergen, too. The sidepouches can be zipped onto the 45L bergen, so I think that this 17L rucksack also can. BTW I don't zip the 17L on the 90L bergen now. In the jungle here, they are just so easy to get stuck by the plants.
@Bikeadelic
@Bikeadelic Жыл бұрын
@FritzLauDirigent thanks so much! Yes I bet they do, you could try putting a rain cover over the whole bergen with the patrol pack zipped on? Less loops and things to get caught. Or do you mean it sticks out the sides too much?
@hamnuptra
@hamnuptra Жыл бұрын
@@Bikeadelic Yes it sticks out a bit too much. Whenever I want to get through messy vines and trunks of local thick vegetation, sidepouches larger than a certain degree are big encumbrances. If I had to carry the 90L bergen, I would put the 17L inside it as the hydration bladder and compartment for essential gears.

This looks a lot like the Wisport Sparrow 16. Is it the same pack with minor changes for the UK Military?

This one is made by Virtus, maybe they designed this one on the basis of Wisport Sparrow 16? They do look quite similar.

I asked a marine last year what pack they were using and they were still on the PLCE main bergen in MTP. I don't think the Virtus kit has gone down all too well, did buy the 90l Virtus bergen, looked great but wasn't very comfortable. In the end I got my PLCE bergen modified, it's now as comfy as anything. The zips between PLCE and Virtus are not compatible either, they zip in different directions which seems a daft idea.
@hamnuptra
@hamnuptra 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. The other bergens of mine ( PLCE DPM, Karrimor 30 Predator, Karrimor 45 Patrol) are definitely more comfy than my Virtus Mk3 90L bergen. I don’t have a dwd exospine so I have to lay the bergen on my webbing pouches “genuinely” like British soldiers. The 17L assault pack is perhaps the best one among the other Virtus rucksacks.

@davidcann6021 2 жыл бұрын
@@hamnuptra Yeah it sits quite comfortably on webbing although mines a short back. the 17l pack does look good, couldn't justify the cost when the full size bergen was about the same price.

@@hamnuptra I think they're about the same here in the UK. My unissued Virtual 90l was about £90, PLCE with rocket pouches about £60 although it cost about another £90 to have a basha pouch and the padding done. I then got a couple of mimimi ammo pouches for the back and 2 general purpose for the belt. It's rather massive now 🙂
